I would but I am just a simple parent who knows nothing about soccer and he deems me unworthy of speaking to him about anything soccer related. Surprisingly, my checks are cashed without question. hmmm....

You mean a coach doesn't want to listen to a parent talk about how many goals his pumpkin scored last year at YMCA and how she should be playing forward because she can boot it.

I am sure you'd love HM coming int your job place and telling you why you were trying to work the best way to unclog a toilet or flip the burgers!

This is what only people from Florida don't understand. Figi coaches a little all-star team with kids from 8th grade-12th grade and the SCU takes credit for their development.

SCU and PV have a very good team or 2 made up of different age groups but are NOT a club. If want to argue that a CLUB should be judged by only state championships, then the club should have taken some part in their development. Kids driving 5 hours to games but never really practicing with the team is great for a 1 off tournament but is hardly a way to judge a total club. What about the teams at the younger ages or in the other age groups.

                Reality

If SCU is really "all that", then why wasn't SCU invited to ECNL?

Why do you keep missing the point? ECNL is about the total club. I completely support OCYS acceptance. I have been making the point about player development and where I would put my kid. SCU does not have the criticall mass to be in the ECNL. They do have the hardware at State Cup level. But you can't have a handful of eite teams with age gaps.

Look at it from this perspective. Why are there 3 collegiate All-Americans from SCU? Why does such a small club produce the best in the country? Yes, the good players want to play with them. But someone has to coach those those players into State Cup Champions. Someone had to get all those superstars to play together. How do you get from Elite to one of the top 50 in the country? What does it take to go from being on a State Cup Championship to a national team player? Someone at SCU knows what it takes and they are doing it over and over again.

I have no doubt OCYS will have some hardware of their own in due time. The best and brightest will want to play for them next season and they will definately have the coaching to get them to the finals.

So why not let SCU enjoy what they have done? I dare say that while OCYS may have the trophies, it will be a long time before they have 3 NCAA All-Americans in the same year.

Can you name one high quality coach at OCYS that will bring state cups championships?

Sure can. Right after they win....and with 100% accuracy.

They will get MLS status before state cup championships!!!

First of all, State Cup wins will not happen on the girls side. Their best girls talent will be playing ECNL, so State Cup is out of the question. On the boys side, the best talent will still be heading to Clearwater for Academy, the rest will stay at Rush.

How many boys from the Orlando area have in the past been in Clearwater's Academy program?

It's a haul from the Orlando area to the Clearwater Chargers' USSDA program. Next year all USSDA programs will be no high school soccer along with a solid 10 months and 3 mandatory training sessions per week.

Not to mention the fact that players from the Orlando area (as well as from anywhere else) have to tryout and make a Clearwater Academy team - they just don't show up and play.

There may well be some Orlando area boys with the talent and means to be a part of Clearwater's USSDA program, but it won't be more than a few.

Imagine the uproar if OCYS were to reach u out to and bring in an infux of Latinos. Upper-middle-class income and above parents would go ballistic - their cozy, "country club, "elitism" would be shattered.
Why do you assume that "Latinos" are more talented than anyone else? Why do you assume that the families joining OCYS are all "country club" types? And why do you stereotype Latino families as all needing financial assistance?

You, my friend, need to lose the big chip on your shoulder. OCYS doesnt have an obligation to "reach out" to anyone or any specific community. If you want to play, figure out how to get to Seminole County just like everybody else.

I understand your point. You have made the same ones over and over. You seem to be trying very hard to make a case for your club SCU on a thread dedicated to the new OCYS. Why don't you start a new thread all about SCU and tlka about your amazing record of development and phenomenal national success and three all Americans from satellite beach until your heart's content?
