Once finalized, the ECNL teams will get the club's top coaches/trainers. Those on non-ECNL teams will receive coaching/training comparable to other area clubs (but most likely at a higher cost). And they WON'T be playing in Region III or R3PL until they've WON a State Cup (or finish State Cup in or near Final Four and play in place of a State Cup champ or runner-up who chooses not to participate in Region III or R3PL).

here is your chance to take 'credit' for some CFK 'achievements'....
CFK has won ______ State Cups
CFK has won ______ Region III Championships
CFK has won ______ top flight (legitimate, not your stupid FPL thing) Showcase titles
Other achievements ________________________

Most, if not all, of the top girls teams are at CFK and FSA and they already have girls from Windemere etc. Now they have ECNL. This means girls are probably going to come from places not mentioned to try out. That's an assumption, isn't it? Some of those girls will make it and knock not only the girls from CFK/FSA who were not top 18 between the two teams, but others who previously were. This means second team is now better than if it was just two teams split between CFK and FSA. That's an assumption, isn't it?
So based on this scenario the club that already had the top girls teams in the area will now have a better second team than previously thought. That's an assumption, isn't it? Why would a girl want to play at XYZ club just to be on a first team when they are losing to OC second team and possibly third? That's an assumption, isn't it? Third teams will be local anyway as I understand it.
ECNL clubs typically have an ECNL team and a State Cup team. Many of those second or State Cup teams play in Region III, CASL, Disney etc. and do very well against our top State Cup teams. I don't see OC being any different when it comes to second teams as this area has a lot of talent. The days of certain teams changing clubs when things aren't going as "coach" wants it to go are changing.

Make all the red herring statements you want. Bottom line: CFK got ECNL. End of statement.

My opinion for ECNL:
Between CFK and FSA, there's a lot of solid girls talent in each of the four "rising" age groups. Players coming from longer distances will be competing for limited spots, and some will obviously displace some of the curent roster- but maybe only a handful at each age group.
Will the talent from long distance stay with OCYS to play on the SC team? Definitely not at the higher age groups, but possibly at u14-15 in hopes of moving up to ECNL in a year.
SC teams will be good- but not necessarily dominant- mainly because they will be made up of the same core (FSA+CFK), plus 4-5 "displaced" players, plus the younger "future hopefuls" described above.
For the boys' side:
I don't see how OCYS is an odds-on favorite to draw talent. Some will be atracted by the hype surrounding the USL team, and the alleged contact with pro players. But until there's hard facts on the table concerning coaches and fees, more boys are likely to "stay put" than to rush in for (inevitably) higher fees.
Of course, every bit of this might be dead wrong. But it's just my thoughts. If you take anything I write as gospel, you probably shouldn't be reading TS. Everyone has to gather facts and decide for themselves.

I also don't think the idea of 'whole teams" moving from club to club (with a coach) is viable anymore- OCYS will not risk credibility by allowing it. Certainly if 15 kids from the same team want to show up at tryouts, they'll be welcome. and a coach can apply for a job and be placed where the club thinks he can be most valuable. But leveraging a club by moving as a "block" doesn't work anymore.

The bottom line is, there are no CFK achievements to cite, therefore you can 'correct the record' until you're blue in the face. There is nothing there.
Nobody cares about a 'dead man walking' club or it's psychotic zealots who are holding on to the past, instead of embracing the future....and please leave those hideous eye chart jerseys at the OCYS door.

Maybe at U15 or U16 the college scouts are important enough to justify the travel, but at U14? These girls will be in 8th grade!

Elite
Questions you should discuss with your daughter before trying out for ECNL.
Are you willing to give up other activities (sports, band & etc.) to focus on soccer?
Are you completely committed to playing college soccer?
Are you physically fit enough to play at an elite level?
Are you an elite player (self evaluation required)?
Are your grades good enough for college entry?
Are your test scores (SAT & ACT) good enough for college entry?
Are you willing to give up social activities to play elite soccer?
Can you afford to miss 6-10 days of school to play at ECNL events?
Can we as a family afford the $4500 to $7500 that ECNL will cost?
Can you handle the pressure that comes with college recruitment?
Unless you can unwaveringly answer in the affirmative on all of these, my opinion is ECNL may not be the best fit for your daughter.
ECNL requires an "all-in" commitment.
