I hope Super Y is no indication of prices at OC for next year. If so we all might be in for sticker shock when we see the price. OC Super Y is more than twice the amount of any other super y team in the entire state. Other clubs are charging $200.00 to $250.00 to play super y and OC charging $600.00.

Let's cut to the chase:
OCYS/USSDA for 2012-13 - how/when/where will tryouts be conducted? Will players NOT previously involved with CFK, FL Rush or FSA have an equal and fair shot at making a USSDA team at OCYS for 2012-13?
When can details and information about tryouts and USSDA at OCYS be expected?

equal and fair shot, it's highly doubted considering that the same coaches (some) will still be there, same brown nosers and wacked out parents.
list of coaches for the age groups should be listed, should be interesting!

To say a returning player isn't accurate as ocys has zero returning teams.

Does anyone know if OCYS will allow DA players to play high school? I read the DA site and it said its allowed in florida but then it also states it runs 10 months with a max of 30 games.
Thanks

That being said, it remains to be seen how USSDA will address situations involving players enrolled in private high schools based on soccer (or other athletic) scholarship.

Frequently Asked Questions: Academy Starts 10-Month Season in 2012-13
Is U.S. Soccer saying that kids can no longer play high school soccer?
Every player has a choice to play high school soccer or in the Development Academy. We believe that for those elite soccer players who are committed to pursuing the goal of reaching the highest levels they can in the sport, making this decision will provide them a big advantage in their development and increase their exposure to top coaches in the United States and from around the world.

U.S. Development Academy will move to 10-month season, forbid players from playing high school soccer
“U.S. Soccer understands the concerns and disappointment in not being allowed to participate in high school soccer as well as the financial challenges clubs face with the additional expenses and logistics that the expanded season would present,” Hazard wrote. “However, in light of these concerns and challenges, US Soccer feels that this programming and environment offers more emphasis on player development by providing meaningful competition and consistent, focused training as a team.”

IMO, choosing between having the opportunity to play with U.S. Soccer Development Academy or high school soccer is a "no brainer".

I can't think of one person who is playing high school soccer because it's good for their development. My sons played and my daughter now plays high school because it's fun. it's not even about winning and losing as their teams lost more than won. It's about representing your Alma matter.
How many of these kids will attend their 10 and 20 year reunion? Many of them will. How many will come back to their club to have a reunion to recall the memories of their training sesssions? Zero.
I was an elite athlete so I get the concept but in my opinion taking high school away is a mistake for the majority of the kids. Playing through will not affect most of them.

I think there may be significant changes to the top teams from what many expect- many players will come to tryouts, and some will be better than existing central Florida players. Some good local players will choose not to play at ECNL or DA level due to other priorities or commitments. Still others will make choices based on the higher commitment required of these truly national leagues.
Good luck to all- and keep your antacid pills within reach!
