    Is it the coach? Club?

Or is it the parent has to pump the chest and say they are the best player on an average team.

It always amazes me to see a weak team with 1 player that is heads and shoulders above the rest to the point that everything has to go thru him/her. Why stay when you can go be a starter on the top team and help elevate them more.
    Probably the Pussy...

I know its hard to understand when your with a "top team" that some good players other places are just wanting to have fun. I do agree with a earlier post this is a stupid question.

some kid may be so good. and could be the best players around. but maybe sometimes instead of taking it so serious .. they just want to play and have fun you know

if it's not your kid then why do you care - mind your own business

soccer parents are the most judgemental folks around - worry about your own kids and quit worrying about everyone elses

You are on this forum, which tells us you too are a soccer parent. And don't say you are a player, kids don't usually use the word "folks".

yes, i am a soccer parent but I have learned that it is much more productive to focus on my own kids and what makes them happy than worrying about what other people think

what position your kid plays or what team he is on will mean very little later on in life so to be so consumed with "top" player or "top" team is ridiculous

put your kid in the best situation for them, whatever that may be - who cares what anyone else thinks or says

and get real youth soccer is merely a means of keeping our kids active and out of trouble - that is all - no matter how great you think your kid is VERY FEW EVER MAKE IT PRO OR EVEN PLAY IN COLLEGE - read up on it, do your research and then maybe you'll figure it out for yourself

Some kids enjoy being the big fish in the small pond for whatever reason. It can be a tough pill to swallow as a parent because you know that being around better players will elevate their play to a greater level, but as long as the kid is having fun, what can you do. Some of it is a maturity issue and if the kid truly loves the game and has great confidence in themselves then they will eventually accept the challenge. I think it can be dangerous to push a kid into a situation that he doesn't feel comfortable in even if he has the ability and talent. As parents we just have to remember and recognize that it isn't enough for us to want it for our kids. They have to want it to.
