not until 2021. MLS Miami just closed on the last 2 lots needed. Stadium will not be ready until 2021 season. No garage will be built. Will have to park miles out and then be bus in. No word on their youth academy situation.

It does for baseball. Soccer will work. young people in their 20s that live in downtown, midtown, brickell, etc. will head to the games. soccer fans from the suburbs will make their way their once a week. with a strong community outreach, I think it will be very successful.

add in a recognizable star and tourists will fit in a game as part of their vacation.

I think it will absolutely work.

people do not like to watch baseball games. there are 81 home games.

heading to 1 Miami soccer game a week - if they sign some stars and give the stadium a buzz like OC - is something many people would like to do.

You obviously have never been to Overtown. It will take an ENORMOUS undertaking to revive that neighborhood. A soccer stadium will not do that. It is a textbook definition of a sh!thole. The project has no planned parking. Public transportation already sucks, but somehow Miami-Dade government is going to fix that? D-bag millennials on Miami Beach will not go out there. No one lives in downtown Miami. The suburbs of west Dade and Broward will not drive to a parking lot to then take a shuttle to be dropped off in Overtown. Planners are thinking that Miami is like Orlando or Portland or Seattle. Completely different infrastructure and demographics.

Tampa Bay Rowdies will field an MLS team before Miami does.

Agreed. Better shot at the Rowdies before Beckham. His team could not have picked a worse place to put a soccer stadium. Plenty of acreage in west broward or palm beach.

Overtown? Even the people in Overtown don't want to be there. 100% Sh!thole.

You idiot. Beckham already has the deal. Rowdies need to bid, GET CHOSEN, and then pay the $150M franchise fee. Beckham fee is $25M. He is not even on the same track as these other bidders. Good luck with your bid though. Ha.

Rowdies already bid and voters just approved Stadium upgrade to an existing beautiful stadium and site. Twelve cities that bid to pay $150M are already putting the pressure on MLS about Beckham's $25M fee. Very strong odds that the Beckham situation never comes through. St. Petersburg got further in 6-months than Beckham has in 3-years. They'll be watching MLS soccer in St. Pete before they will in Miami.

Good luck with that sh*t-sh*w down there.

Overtown is far from a ****hole. It has major potential. Your just afraid of Blacks people. It will be amazing for the city.

agree 100% wait until those pretty boys from brickell, midtown and coral gables get mugged. UBER won't even go 10 miles into Overtown. Now imagine drunk rich white boys looking for a ride at midnight in Overtown.
