    Shin Guards, Tape

I'm an ex- high school, collegiate, and semi-pro soccer player who is now a weekend warrior, youth coach, and businessman.

What do current players use to keep their shin guards in place, and what are the advantages and disadvantages/frustrations?

I just use a sleeve inside my sock. I wear thin liner socks so I have, from my skin, the liner sock, shin guard, sleeve, and, of course, game socks on the outside. This may be too much for some players but the sleeves and liner socks are both very thin and do not add a lot of bulk. Shin guards stay in place perfectly. I know that many prefer tape but I hate the look of this. Most younger kids do it because they think it is "cool" but I find that the look takes away from the uniform. If people do prefer tape I like to see it as the same color as the sock so that it is not noticable.
