All Division Teams

Can someone provide some insight as to how all Division teams are selected. Thanks

The number of all division picks is determined by a teams final standing. 1st place gets something like 4 1st team and 3 2nd team picks. It’s scaled down as you get to the lower
placed teams which get 1 pick. Picks are made by your own coach.

There may not be any all division picks this year, definitely not next year according to our coach. The coaches are trying to do away with it and just keep all state teams for each division. All division has become the participation award for girls soccer and just creates a huge chaotic banquet and the coaches want to do away with it..
Sounds like they are trying to create a first team and second team all state for each division and an all star event instead of banquet at the end of the season and that's it. Great idea and won't see this until next year we were told.

Yes, they are a little much with all their all division awards. Yes, they are participation awards to make people happy or unhappy. However, you "jumped the gun" on this one.
The talk is to do away with them for next year. Some girls have been notified by their coaches so they have to keep them for this year. Coaches want all-state teams.
Question? Do we have to go to the banquet to receive any award? Banquet is painful at best and a lot of money for what it is.

Chaotic banquet? That's a real good reason not to recognize players accomplishments.

Accomplishments? Or participation? Too many awards given out in recognition and not accomplishment. If it was based on accomplishment so many unnecessary awards would be given out.
I tried to figure out what was given out last year and still can't come up with an exact number.
ALL State, All Div, Scholastic, All Tournament, Sportsmanship...

Seems too many players are being recognized. So many individuals for a team sport.

The problem with the awards as they are given out by division (division 1 gets more all state picks) and they are also given out by team ranking.

A division 2 team that does well would have a very hard time getting more than 1 all state nominee even if the team had multiple players at that level. A lower ranking division 1 team has more pull in all state than a well performing division 2 team.

The all division awards are there to provide awards for each division - as again the lower divisions just don't get the opportunity (even if they have the talent).

I agree there doesn't need to be **as many all division awards given out but with the way the system is set up it favors division over individual talent. Hence the all division awards.

And we are talking about a few players - point is the all state awards are LIMITED to D2 and D3, based on the division, not based on individual talent yet these are individual awards. Ive never quit gotten that.

There's absolutely every chance you could have a great club soccer player on a D3 team who is better than some All State players but doesn't get that recognition b/c of division being played in. I agree, a team like Pilgrim with a large girl enrollment and elect to stay in Division II, should accept that by choosing to stay in Div II that the result will be less chance at an All State opportunity.

You think the AD and coach really care about an individual player award when they are thinking the options are between a shot at a state championship (even if in a lower division) vice being a bottom feeder by moving up?

Yes you could have a D3 or D2 club player that is thriving in those divisions. But... very rarely are they as good as the D1 players. This debate has gone on for years. Last time it was the girl from TG that went to PC. Absolutely lit it up in D2 but Could NOT in D1. Just saying.
