Anybody could play goal for us since our whole team is strong...maybe one more goal would have been let in this year with an average D1 keeper

...don't get me wrong, our keeper is very good, but as a whole we don't allow much to be put upon the keeper

What is lost on most of you is that shot blocking is a very small part of it. Elite keepers don’t see a lot of shots because they properly set the defense and prevent scoring opportunities. They actually anticipate attacking patterns. Properly set walls and defend corners. Novel concepts for picking Allstate. Seems like the saves made in warmups get counted.
Athletic basketball players who just block shots look great, particularly to RI high school soccer parents. But the talented ones really don’t see a lot of shots because they set the defense, are Properly positioned to sweep balls away to limit the kick and chase tactic and smartly distribute the ball instead of mindlessly kicking possession away.

Well thanks for the insight Pep Guardiola. These are RI HS girls soccer players you are talking about here. Setting the defense and being that tactically aware? Not one GK in the state could do that because most of them are basketball players playing soccer lol

Ah, the power of LaSalle and the driving force of $ at RIIL. Soccer can be played in a bit of rain. If the field is a concern, then why use RIC? You have PC, Bryant, Brown, and at some point in the future URI with turf fields and plenty of capacity.

Weather is the great equalizer, and LaSalle mustn’t have that happen.

Putting it out there...from what I've seen Narragansett would beat Lasalle by two or three goals.

Now that Johnston and EP moved up, Narragansett can claim its state title - and then do the right thing and move up to D2 next year..i mean, Toll Gate's got to move down..

Brilliant response Soccer mom. Your rapier line wit is truly humbling. LOL is a nice touch. Those are pretty elementary skills by the way. If you think a high school keeper shouldn’t be able to do those things you need to get out of RI for a few games. Go watch U15 ECNL game or something. Might expand your horizons bit.
Obviously my point was lost on you, number of saves a keeper makes is a poor barometer for choosing who makes all state.

EXACTLY why LaSalle keeper shouldn’t be even suggested as all state. Very athletic yes, just like another keeper we are all aware of by now, but has NO idea of setting defenses or any aspect of the game. Says nothing during games and usually is standing with her arms folded.

Well if we are choosing a RI All State GK why go to MA to look for one, genius! And you just answered the question at the same time. RI keepers aren’t and can’t do you have to go to saves or...
