The point on the LSA-Smithfield - is it a different game if Smithfield had a few days in between (LSA had 6 I think) -- let's see how Smithfield comes out on their 3rd game in 4 days on Saturday (away at NK) in a game Smithfield should win.

The other item is your best shot at LSA is on grass.

D2 - Chariho only managing a tie at home against NS..indicates even more it's Pilgrim and then a gap to the gaggle in the 2-5 seeds. MB losing to Johnston - expected MB to be better.

you'd have to think with this much talent pilgrim could have at least competed pretty well in D1...maybe not top 4, but right in the middle with their strong underclassmen...they'll go back to back and then join d1 again

Based on talent Scituate Dad/Mom. Based on the breakaway she saved to put LaSalle in position to win game vs Smith during the week. Unlike a goalie that let two cheap ones in during their loss this week

Looks like LaSalle has a chance for an undefeated season.
SK may have the only chance for the upset?
Smithfield pulled one out yesterday (on very tired legs) I heard.
Definitely a top team this year although it was only against a pretty good NK team.
Contoversial goal to win it said my Smith friend but I’m sure they will take the points and run.

Not sure the point on argument for D2..always a team in D2 that could play up and usually one in D1 that should be down or should have stayed down (see Pilgrim and Burrillville) - the nature of RIIL being lazy to have 3 large divisions instead of 4 smaller but more competitive divisions.

NK is what NK has been for many years - decent talent especially at younger levels can't win consistently at the Varsity level against the upper half teams even with the advantage of home field and a tired Smithfield team in the case the other day.

The point on coaching - you are right that LSA in the games I have seen usually doesn't have the GK take goal kicks - that should be exploited by the opposing team, especially on grass fields. You can pretty much determine the maximum kick length and should coach the team to swarm in that region...but most coaches don't spend time on in game tactics like free / corner kicks, goal kicks, throw-in.

Why does everything related to the keeper position seem to fall back to "keeper mom". There are other teams in the league who may disagree with Lasalle supposedly being the tops at every position (in fact only the best at 1) Didn't the ranking have them at third or fourth that you keep going back to? It is obviously not them in the latest posts, so please stop cluttering up discussions with your nonsense.

Agreed. Most of the mature folks seem to have moved on from.

I do believe that while SK is good, a bit overrated relative to others. Lasalle also only thrives because of a good d that stifles strong offensive threats. I have seen most teams now and believe Smithfield to be tops.

The 2nd goal was a off a messy corner where the ball bounced around for a minute before Smithfield knocked it in. Smithfield obviously won which is all that matters in the end, but they didn’t look like the dominant team in doing so. NK looked very suspect on D, their MF made more stops in the back than their D and both teams attempted a lot of kick and chase. NK grass field is crap so maybe you can’t play possession there. Smithfield schedule looks a little easier this week, maybe they can get on a little run to secure a high seed. LaSalle is still the team to beat until someone actually does.

Smithfield did seem to be a little off and NK did look better than them in the first. Top defender out at NK vs Smithfield due to injury which hurt them no doubt. Second goal was a save and Nk goalie had possession while on the ground. Ball kicked out of her hands into goal. Either way win for Smithfield, loss for NK. We still have to play Smithfield and I don't see them finishing any better than 3 with NK at 4, 5, 6. Depends if they get their players back from injury.
