Just shows that parents are looking for better training at younger and younger ages.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostCommunication from club could be better (to put it mildly) but if your kid is serious about soccer and aspires to play in college then Bayside is the best option in RI. Deserved or not they get the best players. Look at state cup this year. All six boys teams won and all 6 girls teams are in the finals tomorrow. Only RI clob where all teams play in NPL. As they get older, this gives them access to high level college showcase tournaments (Jefferson Cup, PDA, Disney Showcase, etc) which are well attended by college coaches. I know on the girls teams the past two years the U18ish teams had approximately 90% of the girls go on to play in college (most D3, some D2 and a few D1). So the “stay away” comment above all depends on why you are paying $2000++ per year for your kid to play soccer. If you want great communication from the coach then play for GPS. Best soccer on the field is at Bayside.

We just received a package from Bayside. There are, indeed, no indoor practices listed there for the winter time. Still, we were so impressed with the skill level of the kids that came for the try-outs, that we decided to give Bayside a try for the next year.
There were A LOT of kids there for the tryouts, especially considering the weather.

Waste of time for Bayside kids, or 99% of teams to attend.
This is especially the case at those tournaments, where not only are the Bayside kids attending Rhode Island and Mass schools, they also aren't playing on the fields with all the coaches.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNot true. 8-10 college coaches on the sideline of Bayside game at PDA this year. Played at same facility as many ECNL teams. Many colleges coaches watching all games. The point that was made is that Bayside is the best option in RI for playing after HS. For many/most RI families, driving to Lancaster or Boston 3 times a week is not an option so playing for a MA team does not apply. To the other comment about kids not being able to play college soccer outside of New England, I would say who cares. Many of the best colleges in the country are in New England. Getting a great education, and playing soccer at D3 or D2 (D1 longshot) college is all RI players can hope for. Bayside is the best option for kids living in RI to accomplish that due to NPL and high level college showcase tournaments. No other club in RI can offer this. .
Good players attending Thankgiving or March tournaments in New England will do just as well.
Don't drink the kool aid.

Second of all, I stick to my point. You don't need to go to Disney for a showcase if all of your players are going to play college in New England. That's just fact.

Also, don't kid yourself that you'll be practicing at Mendon all the time... most of the teams out of Central, including NPL practice at Forekicks Marlborough. A good deal further than "5 miles from the Ri border".
