Which teams will move due to realignment?
Ep and john obviously up
Classical and rogers down
Scit and burr up
Bay view and toll down
But, does that just mean the next two worst will just be the winless doormats? Or are the 4 mentioned so much worse that they don't even compete?

D2 to d3 is different than d2 to D1. D3 can be ruled by just 1 or 2 kids since most programs are weak, so keeping them in there is lopsided. While d2 is a huge step up, a singular talent will still have the ability to get 1 or 2 goals per game, so d3 can move up and be competitive.
D1 to d2 teams will probably be competitive, but if you are horrible in D1 you will likely not dominate the top 3-5 in d2, which is a decent level. Being good in D1 like scituate will likely get pounded in D1 for a couple years before moving back down. (Unfortunate since they are a good small town program). Not sure how many upperclassmen they have, since coach/ad can lobby against it

Who is the MH parent who keeps pretending to be 2 or 3 different people on here to respond and support their own comment? Has to be the parent of someone on offense. Nothing worse than a parent chirping in their kids ear of how much better they are than anyone else on the team. How they have everything to do with a team win and nothing to do with a loss. Always someone else's fault and how the team would be nothing without their kid on the field.
EVERY team has 2 or 3 of these crackpot parents. Just reading these posts you can tell who they are. The biggest threat to team performance in a season isn't defense or offense, it's undermining by misguided parents who are under the illusion their kid is the next Mia Hamm. Telling their kid to stay up when the coach is telling them to go back and help. Drilling it in their heads that an assist is worthless and that goals are what gets your name in the paper. YOU are the biggest threat to your daughter's team, not the coach, not the defense, not the offense. You.
If you're this type of parent, do your kid a favor if she plays in college. Keep your mouth shut when you learn she's riding the pine. She is going to have to work hard to learn what it's like to be part of a team and undo the years of horrible advice you gave her. It's the least you can do.

Teams from 1 to 2 i agree with

Do the same format as football..top 8 make it with 1A playing 4B in quarters, etc.
Bring top 3 from D3 up and move bottom 3 in D2 down..make D2 two divisions of 10 with one game against your divisional opponent that counts for playoff seeding and then 5-6 against either other side or rivalry/friendly against other schools. Take top 6 from each with 3-6 and 4-5 in opening rounds to establish top 4 in both sides and then follow same format.
There is not enough talent for 15-16 teams in D1 and the variation is greatest in D3..Going to a larger two bracket D2 would reduce the perpetual alignment issues while preventing the sandbagging that occurs in D3.

The two best teams are playing for the title. The best teams all year in my opinion. Smithfield was ok in the mid and on Defense. Forwards are shaky at best. But then again, without MKM how many good forwards are there?
I’m calling SK with the win. Better team, on grass final that will slow LaSalle down, hard workers, all about team down there.

Looks like the two truly best teams in each division have advanced through, with 2 three seeds finishing stronger as the year went by to make a legit challenge to the clear number ones. D3 was always a two horse race.

I'm pulling for SK and the publics to continue the LaSalle drought. Actually only 2 of the last 5 Div 1 Girls championships have gone to LaSalle. Portsmouth also has 2 during that same time frame. LaSalle is still the modern era RIIL champion with 11 Div 1 championships dating back to 1984 with to SK having 7. SK will be shooting for their 8th Div 1 Championship after a 18 year drought (1999). SK won 7 of the first 17 Div 1 Girls Championships. And bettween the Kingstowns (SK and NK) the first 12 of 17 Div 1 Girls champions were won by the Kingstown teams.
Here's the schools with the top 5 championship Div 1 Girls Championships:
LaSalle 11
South Kingstown 7
North Kingstown 5
Portsmouth and Barrington each with 3

I think Burrillville and Scituate should swap with TG and EWG (or Prout)..or agree with the other poster about expanding D2 and just shrinking D1.. like to see Johnston and EP play D2 so all the prognosticators can simply see how top D3 talent does in D2..

Not sure on moving Scit or Burr. Couple of years ago they moved Coventry up after being strong, but never winning title, from D2 to D1. They were double the enrollments so it was easier to justify. I heard one of those teams is losing something absurd like 15 seniors (not sure which team), but that could devastating to move up. If true, that could be difficult to be competitive even where they are.
