Playing for Lasalle and having several teammates playing high level Premier soccer made it easy for MM to have 10+ scoring chances a game versus most RI high school teams. Add in her obvious talent and one can see why she scored 5 goals a game. Put her on a bottom team and she would be lucky to get a goal a game as good as she was. Teammates, opponent level, and coaches play a big role in scoring. At BC, she plays the top players in the country and the only way she scores 5 goals in a game is versus Bryant.

Not to be so obvious but
    1) It helps if a coach leaves a star player in at forward even when ahead 5-0.
    2) It helps if a team plays on fast fields like artificial turf
    3) It helps if a team has lots of quality players all over the field to keep possession, win 50-50 balls and make good passes.

      4) it helps if you're playing for a private school against public schools.

Bottom of D1 and top of d2 are so interchangeable you wouldn't be that good.

Believe whatever you want to believe Barrington tied Coventry, Coventry defeated Toll Gate. It is what it is.

What excuse does Bayview or Mount St. Charles have then?

You mean other than the fact that LSA has up to 6 times their enrollment?

Yes and No. First, MM got 80 goals her senior year so the average was 4-5 goals a game. Yes, there was some with more and some with less, but people also looked the other way because she was in a competition to be leading girls soccer in the country. See earlier point about private schools and recruiting...and the gap between LS and the rest was pretty significant..that LS team would beat the current one 10-0..

And MM is an exceptional talent..11 goals in ACC is pretty darn good..put MKM at Middletown vice Portsmouth and she could rack up 100 goals in a season. Put top D2/D3 player on D1 and it's a hypothetical..put the D2/D3 team into D1 and yeah, those players are not racking up 30-40 goals..lucky to get 8-10..it's much harder to say put the player on LS, Smithfield, Cumberland, Hope and would they match JR, MG, etc. totals..

Who knows? Just have All state by D1/D2/D3 and let the politics/powers that be do the POY...and then do something like a state game like football does against CT and take the 66 all-staters and have some body of independent coaches who agree to coach the game (yeah, NCAA rules aside so maybe finding independent coaches is hard) run a camp and pick 22 as a special "designation" and get to play a fun game against a CT all-star team.. I think VT and NH does something like that so maybe join them and do a round robin VT/NH/RI tri-state cup event..

And true to form... NK continued their annual mid-season slide (going 1 -5 - 1 after beating Lasalle) and has been overtaken by SK... with EG close behind. With all the talk about poor coaching at the high school level.... it takes a special "talent" to do what this guy had done this year with the talent he has available.

I'm beginning to wonder if the victory over Lassale was a fluke

Or the rest of their wins for that matter... escaped their first SK game with a win... mounted a comeback against EWG.... etc... This team could easily be below Prout in that South division. Another tale of a coach doing so little with so much!

So the question is... how can the HS coaching be improved across RI?

Wow, Cranston West beat Smithfield! Anything can happen in high school soccer.

Wow. So that gives them 34pts, tie with Lasalle but leading Lasalle as they have a higher PF. Lasalle basically had to win their final games to lock up the Division. With a Lasalle loss to Cumberland, Smithfield could slip into the top seed spot with 2 wins.

Same battle going on with D1- S between SK and NK.

LOL. So much for Smithfield slipping into the top seed for D1-N. Something tells me these quarterfinals are going to be very interesting to watch!
