US Club teams could not have entered the Soccer RI cup, because there is a league requirement.

I'm sure next year you'll see some US Youth MAPLE and Super Liga teams entering the NEP State Cups.
Getting to national within US Club state cup is easier because you only have to win a 6 state New England regional championship rather than a 16 state region 1 championship.

And you won't play on crap fields at URI or West Virginia.

You are WRONG. One of those know it all idiots that flood this forum on a regular basis. Unlike USYSA National Championship Series, where you have to qualify through league play (or at least three games I think)US Club Championship series is open tony team (USYSA, US CLUB, AYSO, etc...)

...but competition at Regionals will be better. As far as fields go, both teams play on same field at same time. Tired of hearing people complain that they lost because field was crappy. Doesn't matter how good you think you are, if you score less holds than other team you lose. Even if you dominate the entire 90 minutes and lose 1-0, you stil deserve to lose because the team you dominated may have only had 1 or 2 chances to score and they did while you may have dominated and had dozens of chances but couldn't put it in the net. Team that wins is the winner!! Period

Competition at Region 1 will not be better than at US Club New England's because all of the best New England teams are now playing US Club. Plus other states top teams also have moved to US Club via NPL and ECNL.

Nobody said they lost because of crap fields at URI. Everybody said using that dump made the soccer experience poor. Good teams deserve to play on good fields. US Club gets it. US Youth doesn't.

They have never won? I find that hard to believe.

Good points. It should be the goal of the organizers of the highest level US youth soccer tournament to ensure the factors external to the players have minimal impact on the outcome and allow for the players to do as well as possible given their skill, fitness, motivation, etc. In other words, have fields that conform to the standard, are properly maintained, especially if natural turf, have competent, fit, unbiased refs, proper goals, markings, flags, balls, etc. You can't control for weather totally, but you sure as heck can at least pick sites that have sufficient capacity to provide facilities and equipment that are on par with the level of the tournament. The so-called "top tournament" in USYSA should demand only the highest quality facilities and equipment -- they do exist even in Region 1..

and it's not USYSA per se (although you get what you expect so if you don't demand much of regions and states, then) but really Region 1 folks who go for dollars over standards..

then you obviously don't have a clue. rams have always been an afterthought, essentially the misfits who can't make other teams.

Can't speak for every team in every club..but the u17 girls have some 1st/2d team all state players and at least one R1 ODP pool player..

I don't know the history so I'm sure there are (almost always the case) personality and ego issues..you would think the URI programs could have collaborated (I do remember the old Fortuna teams on the girls side were decent) both internally and then forged collaborative partnerships with SC, OS, EWG, EG, etc. to provide a robust, viable alternative in Washington County given some inherent advantages in terms of facilities, lack of any real premier inroads into southern RI, etc.

I am sure we will have fun and thanks for not playing in the state cup . It will give some good town kids like providence and ocean state needed exposure for 1/4 the price.
                        Thanks for caring.

Good luck playing the same 4 teams from your us club soccer inter state tournament

Playing the same 4 teams is better than playing no one and getting a pass straight through to West Virginia (have fun in that location there's really a lot to do around there, and it's a quick, easy drive too!)

Actually bring an extra lawnmower becasue the fields are cow pastures. Just think of how URI was and this will be 10x worse. At least US Club has all very good teams to play in an inter-regional. USYSA will still have some solid teams in other states. It's going to be some long days when you lose 10-0. Ask Portsmouth, Lusitana how they fared last few years?

That West Virginia complex is so awful. Seriously, SRI should send the losers there it's such a terrible place. USYSA has no shame.

Rhode Island has never been able to compete against the big states in the region. Regionals is an opportunity for players not teams to showcase their skills and make a name for themselves. No one is going to cry or regret getting beat by Virginia 10 to 0 if their kids gets exposed to some good competition and some regional staff . Thanks for your concern but we are very happy Bruno and Bayside will not be around .
