    ODP Question

Are the academies, camps and teams just a majority of Bayside players with a few others sprinkled in or is there a better mix of club/town representation?

ODP is a huge failure so they accomodate Bayside just to have participants.

Not a knock on Bayside BTW ... just that ODP in this state is virtually useless and it's not really their fault. We are just a small state and we do not nor have we ever had the funds to have a great ODP. It's a great experience for the kids and a few get noticed but for the majority it is useless beyond the experience.

Top players on top teams such as Bayside and some Mass clubs get better exposure and training from their clubs. ODP coaches are no better and usually of lesser quality than coaches from the good clubs as the pay is horrible. USYSA does not support ODP with money so our state has to work on a low to virtually no budget.

For just extra training is ODP worthwhile?

Bayside kids no longer eligible for ODP. Club is now registered with US Club Soccer. ODP is a USYSA program.

Are you a dope? The club you play for cannot dictate whether you play ODP or not. It's an individual thing. You don't even have to play on any soccer team at all to play ODP. Your club may suggest that you don't play. Or not accommodate like they do now as far as no practices on Wednesdays. And Sundays throughout the winter. ODP plays one tournament Rider cup. So that may be the only conflict. If they don't pay your kid to play. They don't own you. Your child can do whatever they want.

And if your kid wanted to do the ODP camp. It is after the NPL and NEP seasons have commenced. Do you really think that USYS is going to turn down you $550. Because your child wasn't registered on a USYS team. I don't think so.

US Club Soccer and USYSA are league affiliations, not club. Many clubs have teams in leagues backed by both organizations. They have nothing to do with a player participating in ODP.

RDS Academy is a much better investment in terms of extra training.

That's because you know nothing about soccer and how it relates to training and ID process.

The reality is that many clubs will frown upon rds. They want you to use their camps and academies for training.

RDS is part of revs pyramid to ID talent but since many clubs put pressure on parents not yo do it they don't see the best kids.
                          RTCS is the 3rd level
ODP is still one of the best ways to get ID.Why? Because regional , club and college coaches are ODP coaches.

Here is what I know. ODP is not what it use to be. This year I did not see any coaches on the sideline like it uses to be. Couple years ago you can see more the a dozen of coaches scouting at Rider. This year I hardly see more than 3 coaches. So reality is most coaches don't see any value of ODP anymore.
