The only good GA team in the area is going to be NEFC. It was just a money grab for the GA to take on Bayside and Surf. Neither of those clubs will do well when they have to compete against NEFC or GA teams from other regions. Don’t bother with any clubs around here except NEFC GA or FC Stars ECNL.

Such a stupid attitude. You are leaving out a couple hundred players who will play in college

With NEFC getting the top players from Aztec for their Navy team, the 2007 and 2008 NEFC teams are the #2 and #3 teams in Mass and in the top 40-45 nationally. Ahead of ECNL teams Scorpions, Select, and Stars White.

Anyone making such general comments just gives away how little they know. It's always about what are the actual options within a workable geography, at a given age year.

If RI Surf or Bayside can pull in some stronger players, they may be able to compete with the GA teams in NY and NJ. They will also be playing games worth playing, which is certainly not the case for any of the leagues that Bayside has been in (especially ECRL2). Similar with RI Surf. No more wasted games.

Also, it is really going to vary by age year. The competition certainly varies a great deal by year. It seems reasonable to think the same will be true for RI Surf and Bayside teams.

GA is a better option than any of the ECNL Regional Leagues. Similar competition to the lower end of GA. Better events. Much better to be a club's #1 team than their #2, #3, #4 or #5 team.

And ECNL Regional League Northeast (the new one that Bayside was in) is just stupid beyond belief.

Agreed. The ECNL-R are good leagues as well with good competition, but to say they are equal to or better than the GA is delusional. The GA teams will often play in higher brackets which makes those matches more competitive. The upper half of the GA conference is very strong and would give most ENCL teams a very competitive match. Lastly, college coach attendance at GA events is real, not like ECNL-R events. Most D1 coaches avoid the ECNL-R events. Thats not the case with the GA.

The RI GA teams struggled the past week against outside competition, but it has to be expected given the jump in competition and new lineups. Any positive takeaways? Will it be a season-long process getting used to the speed and style of play in GA?

RI Surf is dominating like everyone had thought. The coach brought in his players from the previous club and added some good talent. Bayside is doing better then it had in ECRL2. They must have brought in some new players.

Depending on age group… that’s how it is at the younger years. Will be interested to see how the high school teams 2010 and up do in the spring. Both Surf and Bayside have acquired more players since going to GA.

I heard the Bayside U19 GA Team is holding open tryouts soon. Their roster is only at 26 right now. Rumor is they are hoping to get to 30 by the NEFC Showcase. I am sure the club gave everyone the same discount to play. I would hate to think they brought players over from Scorpions with massive discounts just so they could take playing time away from all those families that have been loyal to the Bayside badge. Maybe Crime Dime will put together a Futsal Team for the 8+ girls that don't get to suit up every week.

I am sure with their history of mature coaches and excellent top-down communications that they will manage this well. LOL
