My kids have played for both Bruno and Bayside, and debating which is "better" is like watching two leprechauns debate which one is taller. Neither one is a big destination club (like Scorps or Stars for girls or Revs/Bolts/NEFC for boys). Pick one that you're happy with and get on with your life. There is good and bad to both clubs.

It would be smart of one of those high level MA clubs to expand their brand into Rhode Island by starting a new program or taking over an existing RI club and building a program that way.

Starting from scratch would be almost impossible due to the number of players in RI alone. Starting clubs from scratch in MA and CT is difficult never mind RI. Club takeover is the only way an out of state club would have a fighting chance. The next issue is who do you take over? Bayside and Bruno have control over 50 % of the premier player population and I cant see either of them just handing over their clubs. With that said TW and BWP have egotistical owners who feel they alone can achieve greatness. That leaves Rams FC who are attached to URI and lusitana who have history and heritage to up hold. Rumor is Rays sold there sole to the dark side (rips) to make a buck. The best thing for MA club to do is mirror NEFC and drop a club right next door or approach a nova, explosion or academica. With the towns developing premier branches with in their organizations and the amount of premier clubs already operating in RI I highly doubt SRI membership would vote any more premier clubs in.

Revs are a pro club you cant pick them they pick you. FYI they have selected 17 RI players since 09-10 season 7 BFC & 7 BWP

NEFC is 7-8-3 vs Bayside FC, 4 of those wins were when the Man child (16) was scoring 5 goals per game against 12 yearolds.

U12 Bayside may actually be better its tough to tell who nefc considers the best team.
U13 lost only meeting 2-0 will meet again (before you get all crazy i know you merged both teams now).
U14 have lost more then once to the top 3 teams.
U15 got routed once.
U16 have not played yet but will in less then 3 months
U17 lost 4-1 in NEP and will also see each other this spring

Bayside U17 are in their 5th season with the club and are the pioneers of bayside's girls soccer program(thats right five years old). And the 17 have beaten NEFC research it. so same ball park i would say yes when i see scores 2-1 2-0 1-0 thats not to far off.

And again your compareing apples and oranges. NEFC has 6 times the population to choose from. U12 girls are a great example no excuses for bayside girls started at U10 early development ages. NEFC has 11 U12 teams thats a player pool of roughly 150 players to bayside's two teams 22 players. Bayside has beaten the top U12 8v8 team the last three times they have played. whos doing the better job developing players? NEFC will go on to cut 100 of those players and end up with maybe 3 teams by U14 real development! NEFC beating RI teams 2-0 is like France beating congo not impressed but france losing to congo is embarssing. prepare to be embrassed over the next few years as bayside teams develop from young ages.

Bayside U11 did not play NEFC's top U11 team. That team played up.

Bayside U12 did not play NEFC's top U12 team. The two best teams are the Central United team and the South Coast team, and both of those teams are far better than Bayside.

Bayside U13 would get slaughtered by the Elite U13 team and the South Coast U13 team.

Bayside U14 has already lost all it's best players to the NEFC Elite U13 and South Coast U14 team.

Bayside U15 isn't very good, not sure how many NEFC teams are better.

NEFC is weak at U17, so I wouldn't be surprised if Bayside could compete with them.

These teams actually played each other once. And bayside beat NEFC sc. 8-1. FSA tournament last year. That's probably why NEFC didn't put a team in this year.
