Bayside Top teams vs Scorpions 3rd teams and Stars 5th teams

Bayside can’t get out the way of their own feet.

After 5 league changes in 6 years, they have now settled to have their top teams set up to play Scorpions 3rd level teams (just a short ride away for their players).

Why would any Bayside parent/player be happy to play against another local clubs 3rd level team.

Such a short sighted and backwards move. This will no doubt lead to the end of the Bayside girls program. I can see a mass migration to RI surf or Scorpions!

I actually think this was a smart move for Bayside. They can now market the ECNL badge to the RI market. This is a competitive advantage over RI Surf. Also, this new Regional League will improve over time as better players come to this league to get exposure in the ECNL. It’s true that, in the short term, the new Regional league will field weaker teams from Scorpions and FC Stars, but all of the other teams new to the ECNL-R will bring their best teams. Competition will be pretty good and will get better as this league matures.

Absolutely a good move for bayside. The first year will be a mix bag but having their top teams in ECNL regional is going to be better in the long run than DPL. Getting their foot in the ECNL league is going to help. Anyone who say otherwise is bitter their club is not included.

Well it is 100000000000000000000000000% better for Bayside than this year. IMAGINE being an average club like Bayside is and having to fly to MARYLAND!!!! for 1 league game and then fly back. Who the F thought this was a good idea?????????????????

Listen Surf parents. Bayside is doing an excellent job constantly trying to improve the club. They have endured sketchy parents and coaches taking players and teams to Scorpions and Surf. But they keep on keeping on. Yes elite 64 is no good, but clubs have to try and they have to take risks. (And it’s not like bayside was the only club that have elite 64 and impact a try.) That idea failed but now they have an opposing to be part of ECNL regional on the girls side. Good for them.

Bayside seems to be one of the clubs for which ECRL2 might actually make some sense, in terms of being in a decent league where they can be somewhat competitive (in the top 5 out of 20 teams, looking at 2007s).

The big question is how much travel there will b, given the very uneven level of competition. Whether it's good for any player or family depends somewhat on how long travel to win lopsided games suits your goals, if you get the other stuff. Maybe OK given where Bayside is at, I'm not sure it's a big draw for many new parents.

Elite 64 is gone, 6 of the 8 teams joined ECRL2.
