Reality check though, there are literally dozens of teams better than Scorpions ECRL in MA. The top Surf teams are much better.

Also, Scorps are the 2nd dirtiest team (after Bayside)

I guess your kind of thinking is how they get people to travel and pay for ECRL, when there are many better teams around.

Being in the top 25 teams doesn’t make it a “top team.” Scorpions ECRL NOT being in the top 25 makes it a C team, not a B team.

B or C team is irrelevant, ECRL is not their A team. Are you bragging about being better than a clubs second (or third with your logic) team? Doesn’t RI Surf claim to be an “elite club”? Way to set the bar low by comparing to an ECRL team! BTW the ranking system used by GotSoccer is garbage now that most leagues don’t use it for points.

RI Surf is much better than Scorpions ECRL.

At the high school ages more talent flows to ECRL than at the younger ages. Also the best regional players, practice with ECNL and play some games as well. It is a pretty good development environment and the ECRL league is better overall than DPL and NPL Impact

At middle school level ECRL is a waste of money and I am not impressed not the ECRL teams. Many NPL, DPL, and Impact currently has stronger teams than the ECRL teams at both Stars and Scorpions. However, I agree, I do see the switch in High School. ECRL players at Scorpions in high school have an opportunity to train with ECNL teams. ECRL teams also can play other ECRL teams at a well attended showcase in Florida. Surf players are doing just fine developing in a small club like Surf RI. They are getting playing opportunities in their league and playing against town which is all well and good.When these players reach 9th grade they will need to leave RI and head to MA for more serious training and better competition and for exposure to college coaches. The only way to do this is through the ECNL or GA pathways. (ideally ECNL). I think it's great Surf players can play local, train local, and grow as a team. Save money, save time and have fun. One day a couple of them might make a MA team.

Scorpions have strong R teams because the N coaches are tremendous salesmen and have convinced these parents their kids "could" have a shot at the N, while the reality is - there is no shot. Look at all the Scorps N teams - it's the biggest, tallest, fastest and most athletic girls. If your daughter is not that mold, she will not be on the N team. Full stop. Because of this - Scorpions do well in R league.

Stars on the other hand does really well at National because they have TWO N teams (Blue and White). They do not do well at Regional since the R teams are 3rd and 4th teams.

I realize "any given sunday" just using this as a datapoint to show that ECRL, DPL, NPL are all very similar. If you have a top DPL Team (NE Surf, RI Surf, NEFC NS), a top ECRL Team (CFC, Scorps) or a top NPL Team (Aztec) in your area - play for the team that is a best fit, close to home and best for you daughter mentally.

This is easily the best written post in this whole pile. Although I think the "big, strong, fast" approach is one of the problems of US soccer as a whole, there is no doubting that the ECNL teams are built that way. I blame the officiating in part, but ultimately ECNL is playing the odds that those types of players are what D1 programs want. They are not wrong. Give it 5-10 years and our Women's national team will not be a top 10 world ranking because of this. UNLESS the NWSL clubs get serious about academies that teach a more european model.

My guess is yes. DPL appears to be stronger in NE than other regions. Very often the best competition for RI Surf is NE Surf. Need a new league.

Better off on Scorpions Regional over DPL.
ECNL Regional has better opportunities.
Best surf players should tryout for Scorpions National and Regional ECNL or NEFC GA.

how many Surf clubs does the northeast Regional team consist of?

Did they just add this name this week after the ECNL released list of teams in ECNL-Regional Northeast and Bayside was included but, Surf was not? Interesting.
