    Competitive Question

What do some of you soccer parents think of the fun in putting together an all star team (playing their age level) and going to win a 4 25-minute game tourney by a combined score of 43-0? Is that fun? It certainly isn't productive so just wondering on the fun aspect.

Ask the kids. Most who actually enjoy soccer for the game and competition would probably tell you it was pretty boring (my kid hates playing lopsided games). If the kids are the type of players that practice once a week only at their forced team practice and never touch a ball in between, it's possible that they enjoyed crushing other groups of players that spend a similar amount of time playing, but happen to be less athletic. Something certainly not quite right with the coach (or was it a parent) that thought this was a good idea.

Blame the tourney organizer. We signed them up for U15 and they switched us to U14 upon arrival. Sometimes kids just want to play together with friends other clubs and this is the only chance they get. We entered them hoping for good competition. Not sure what else we could have done..

If this is who I think then the situation was totally predictable and happens over and ever again. You can't take top players from all over and put them together and expect to find real competition at an indoor tournament. Organize some scrimmages with good competition.

                1 - Play a man down
2 - Play two man down
3 - Restrict your players to 2 touches only
4 - Restrict your players to 1 touch
5 - Restrict your players to goals only off 1-touch finishes
6 - Should I keep going or is that enough ideas for you?
