Why don't clubs try different tournaments instead of the same old thing year after year. We surely don't need to go to NH again this year. We won that tournament last year

Life is so unfair.

Because parents will complain over everything. they go to an out of state event , and say "why can't we stay" local. They go to a better event and say "we need to play more teams for the gotsoccer points"

No team will ever be 100% satisfied with tournament decisions.

Any team can win on any give day, despite their home state. These kids will do just fine.

As the parent of a high school age player, I am really tired of the travel and the youth soccer industry. Shame on all of you sheep for allowing yourselves to get sweet talked by coaches and DOCs that your little superstars are being "held back" by the local competition. The reality is that we have too many teams and too many less than premier players that are on rosters just to keep the cash flowing. I'm tired of being forced to stay in fleabag hotels so the tournament organizers can make money by making compulsory reservations.
Spanish, British or German kids don't travel thousands of miles the way our kids do and they certainly don't play tournaments with multiple games per day, because that's not a good way to learn to play. Kids should practice more and play less and tournaments are about making money, not improving skills (because why travel 1000 miles if you're not trying to win?). Bayside and Black Watch and Bruno should be doing everything they can to make each other better so there would be stronger local competition, but instead they just bad mouth the others and steal players, which improves the team but not anyone's skills.
Anyone really believe that the teams couldn't just stay closer to home and get the same thrashing from Bolts, NEFC, Scorps, MPS, Western United, or Seacoast? Parents of kids on RI teams pay as much as parents from any other state, but get very little to show for it. Anyone really kidding themselves that any of the RI teams are going to win at regionals next year? Put away your pom-poms, and stop drinking the clubs' Kool-Aid because that's the only way the level of play in our state is going to get any better. Traveling to Disney or Potomac is the problem, not the solution.
