I still can't figure out why they are allowed to compete against the RI public schools.

Since they are competing against RI public schools, they are not allowed to give athletic financial aid. Thus if DA is waivered because he gets financial aid, then they are breaking the rules.

According to Projo this weekend, DA and GF will both be playing for LaSalle this fall.

So is DA playing for La Salle or Revs. Appears to still be practicing with the REVS. Anyone know or care about the rules?

You can get some kind of a waiver if you can prove something about the school you are going to is better than the school in your town/city. I briefly heard about this rule and I know it's a way around the rule and allows you to play both academy and your high school team. Perhaps someone here knows where to find the rules, it's in there somewhere.

I thought though you had to choose and then could join the REVS after highschool. Not do both at one time. Crazy rules for private school kids and not for public school kids.

                Underhanded Deals

Don't worry, MP & DA have it all worked out. That's why MP's son works for the Revs Academy. Get it? One hand washes the other. You do something for me, I do something for you. Illegal, illegal, illegal. Enough said. But they'll get away with it because no one will challenge it.

No dirtier than the fact that the parochial high schools are allowed to recruit young athletes from around the region but are then allowed compete with public high schools. Not even remotely a level playing field but this is allowed to go on. Private schools benefit because they save travel costs and rack up tons of titles in many different sports, allowing them to approach more "students" and recruit them to fill future teams.

It would be much fairer if the private schools competed against other private schools, and the public schools competed against other public schools. Then the nonsense of DAP vs high school could be resolved with a single consistent rule, rather than special rules for private schools.

While I agree on the private/public distinction (to a degree -- clearly there is a bit of *perception* problem at a minimum with some of the kids who end up going to L-S), you should know the DAP rules -- it's not private/public, but regional decision. Currently, Revs Academy region allows HS participation. We'll see if that changes..along with the expansion to U14 in 2013 (so no middle school for the few RI kids who make the U14 academy?)

Can Academy players participate with non-Academy teams during the season?
Full-time Academy players are only permitted to participate on their Academy team, high school soccer team (except in areas where ten month programming is in effect – see below for a complete list) and National Team duty.

Which teams participate in ten month programming and do not allow high school participation?
The entire Texas Division and Northwest Division do not allow high school. The SoCal division teams including: Arsenal, Chivas USA, LA Galaxy, Pateadores, Real Salt Lake AZ, Real So Cal and Strikers do not allow high school. For more information, please contact the Academy Club Director.

Guess it didn't matter..L-S only tied NK..was that the game MP had to serve for his RIIL imposed penalty from last year? Too bad RIIL was not as thorough investigating in the past about coaching your players in the off-season.

This thread reeks of jealousy. There's few people here who is given the chance would say no the the academy team and you know it. It's really none of your business what these people do. Their kid has the talent to be on the team so what, it does not affect your kid.

Are those kids supposed to make a decision taking your kid into consideration?

"Oh, I better play high school to help me team get better".

Chances are these kid gets bashed every game by the same pathetic whiners in this thread.

Go take a pill and drink your Patron and be happy your kid is healthy enough to play a sport.

Lots of kids in hospitals cannot say the same.

                        Agreed

MP has been coaching his team in the off season for years. He did it with my son several years ago & still continues to do it. No one monitors it at all.

It not jealousy it favoritism and not following rules. Why do certain players get special treatments and not others.you can,t say one minute that your for dap and high school is not good for development but then you have an academy coach son play high school. What kind of message are you sending?

what does it matter to you. The rules are in place and it is not about favoritism. It's all about jealousy and shame on you for hating on the kid and his father. When the kid gets to college all past favors won't help him on the field. He'll have to survive on his own skills just like your kid. It's just a game get over it and your pathetic jealousy.

The rule is not a USSF rule. It is a Revolution rule created by DA himself. The other players at public school had to chose. DA's son gets a waiver because he wanted it rule. The rule was applied to Mass boys and is being misused in RI to serve a purpose. Wants son to get all American status before waivers are eliminated next year. This was a trial year. MP assured daddy he would have the votes to makes this happen. 12 coaches in the room that have qualifications to vote and only 3 private schools coaches. SD at PCD never shows up to vote unless one of his is up for vote. 4 public schools coaches lost their best players to rule either to Revs or Bolts with a 5th coach about to lose one as we speak. GOOD LUCK getting the votes need to even be on the ballot. Huge miscalculation by DA. He should have given all of them waivers or none of them waivers.

I have a kid that plays high school soccer, and I'm trying to explain to him why there are two sets of rules. The shame is in the double standard and that anyone would have the cojones to defend this sort of behavior. LaSalle shouldn't be playing against public schools PERIOD.
