So many dual sport athletes that it was hard to keep them focused on just one thing. Maybe by going to play in MA (where the top players live anyway) they will be able to accomodate their multi-sport schedules. The team toppe dout last year and who could duplicate their success in RI? Noone.

Wrong...a few more. Apparently someone with some RI inside info says there are more...they are talking about us on the Mass. thread called "Region 1 Championships"
Quote The twins were not the only great players from RI graduating this year who played in Mass. - others include:
CM - Smithfield
SR - Cumberland
MG - East Greenwich
SL - East Greenwich
MD - North Kingstown
There are probably a couple others - point being that if you are U17 or over and from RI - a couple years ago at the all important U14/15 juncture, there was no viable club for you to go to in RI and you were forced to go to MA.
The Rays were on the decline with terrible coaching and Bruno was in disarray - Bayside's success on the Boys side and entry into the girls side 2 years ago may be contributing to keeping more players in RI at the rising U12 - U15.
I can tell you - at least 1-2 players from the current Bayside U15 team would have a shot at Stars ECNL squad and at least 3-4 players would cakewalk onto Stars "B" or Scorps ECNL. if they choose to leave RI.
End quote
Personally I think they (Scorps, Stars) talking about RI soccer because they are are worried that numbers are down, because families see what a big load they are being sold by Clubs who recruit them to play up there and then relegate them to "B" teams which don't get any different exposure than we get with a RI club. And same clubs who flaunt college commitments as if the Scorps or Stars are the reason for their being recruited when in reality...most if not all were more likely academically related. If your kid is a good student and a good soccer player there is a school/program out there and eventually the marriage will be made. But if you want to drive up to Ma 2, 3 or more times a week and pay for flights to tournaments all over the country to find a school in your back yard, go ahead, get out your checkbook and write that big check and have fun. But don't be sad when you are make the B team. And maybe the $20,000 (after travel expenses and club fees) could or should have been saved for college. Remember: IT'S ALL A BUSINESS

This discussion was about RI exporting great talent to Mass teams over the last couple years but at the U16 ages and below, it seems to have slowed down.

They have 2 players from RI - one played this past season for Scorps and blew out her ACL so she won't be playing until at least next spring at earliest.
The other one is coming from Bristol and has played for Nova, Bristol, Rays, and Explosion over the past couple years.
So they are actually +1 in regard to RI players but the one they added hasn't been on the RI premier scene for at least 3 years anyway - hardly a takeaway from RI.

There's no way Scorps are getting 6 players from RI at next year's U16. Ain't happening.
