RI has some very good HS coaches:

    BS from Smithfield
    KF at EWG (NSCAA award)
    LF at LaSalle
    SD at EG

These are all top notch coaches that could succeed with whatever kids they are given. I would be happy to have any one of them coaching our team.

Agree - They are all good coaches. By succeed you mean win with "whatever kids" is not even close to being true. High School coaches do not have the kids long enough to make any improvements in their individual skills. All the coaches you have selected have the best RI players on them. Good HS coaches are good at integrating the less experienced soccer players with the really good players. The EWG coach has done the most with the fewest "soccer" players. Although he did have some excellent athletes to work with.

LF must not be that good because Bruno United booted her off the coaching staff. Some of the decision she make are questionable during this past season. But she is blessed with talents so all she need to do is shot up and let them play she will be fine. I agreed the rest of the coaches you mentioned are decent coaches and they will raise the playing level of the players they have.

that might tell us more about the Bruno coaching staff than about LF. Personally, I think LF was too god to be involved with Bruno.

If you are from RI and are thinking about the ECNL, tell your parents that they would be fools to pay that kind of money so soomeone else can play soccer. ANyone from RI is best off to say right here in RI with one of the local clubs that have more to offer than any ECNL "waste of time and money " club.
theres an entire thread devoted to this topic on the MA site. Please go there.

Yes there is but that is not talking about the foolish choices that RHODE ISLAND players are making to leave this state and go to play in the ECNL .

the DATA is that the older (u16-18) RI girls teams have continued to be regional players in subregional play, NEP and Maple. College placement has been very strong and competitoin remains good between RI and neighboring states. most players stay within three hours of home for college so why pay for ECNL to go to some far away state to be seen by URI coaching staff? RI has enough to offer our players without paying money to MA for the ECNL.

RIs got like 2-3 kids playing for ECNL teams - 1 will miss the whole next season and the other 2 are sisters.

it looks like most of the RI girls teams in this age bracket are around the 100 mark in Region 1 rankings.

Wrong...a few more. Apparently someone with some RI inside info says there are more...they are talking about us on the Mass. thread called "Region 1 Championships"

Quote The twins were not the only great players from RI graduating this year who played in Mass. - others include:

                              CM - Smithfield
                              SR - Cumberland
                              MG - East Greenwich
                              SL - East Greenwich
                              MD - North Kingstown

There are probably a couple others - point being that if you are U17 or over and from RI - a couple years ago at the all important U14/15 juncture, there was no viable club for you to go to in RI and you were forced to go to MA.

The Rays were on the decline with terrible coaching and Bruno was in disarray - Bayside's success on the Boys side and entry into the girls side 2 years ago may be contributing to keeping more players in RI at the rising U12 - U15.

I can tell you - at least 1-2 players from the current Bayside U15 team would have a shot at Stars ECNL squad and at least 3-4 players would cakewalk onto Stars "B" or Scorps ECNL. if they choose to leave RI.
                              End quote

Personally I think they (Scorps, Stars) talking about RI soccer because they are are worried that numbers are down, because families see what a big load they are being sold by Clubs who recruit them to play up there and then relegate them to "B" teams which don't get any different exposure than we get with a RI club. And same clubs who flaunt college commitments as if the Scorps or Stars are the reason for their being recruited when in reality...most if not all were more likely academically related. If your kid is a good student and a good soccer player there is a school/program out there and eventually the marriage will be made. But if you want to drive up to Ma 2, 3 or more times a week and pay for flights to tournaments all over the country to find a school in your back yard, go ahead, get out your checkbook and write that big check and have fun. But don't be sad when you are make the B team. And maybe the $20,000 (after travel expenses and club fees) could or should have been saved for college. Remember: IT'S ALL A BUSINESS

                              signed,
a RI soccer mom who likes RI

I think there are more now. I know of at least three that were trying out for the Scorps. I think that's what is ******* someone off.
