Just wondering if there are any towns entering MAPLE in the Fall? I see Portsmouth did it last year at U12, maybe that's why they won SC. Should other towns emulate?

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostGiving the restrictions SuperLiga places on premier players I would see why not. Most town teams are 2-4 players away from being competitive. If you get lucky like Portsmouth and recruit couple good players and like minded parents you have a strong enough team to compete for SC.

So if you have a real good young team made up of one or two towns, it shouldn't be that hard to attract 3 or four players from 2 other towns. Parents always want their kids on the best team they can afford to be on, so if you promote yourself correctly and do all the right things the word will get out and you'll find the players. Besides the huge advantage Premier teams have over town programs though, there is one advantage seldom talked about on here. A kid can join a premier team and challenge themselves at a higher lever and still be rostered on their town competitive team to play with their friends. This happens a lot at the younger ages, U13 and under. If a town team playing in a premier league recruits some players from out of town, those kids cannot also be rostered on their town's Superliga team. If that rule was changed it would be easier for town teams to recruit for young premier level teams that would save parents tons of $$

Premier teams do not really enjoy playing premier in name only teams just because a coach thinks it will be good for their team and it could end up being as bad an experience as it could be a good one.

Good idea!
That is the best idea I've ever heard on this site. So simple. And it makes good sense.

I also do not believe premier players should play in the bottom 2 Superliga divisions. I do believe that all Superliga games should be played on Saturdays so more kids could do both. We then would get stronger premier teams as well as stronger Superliga anchor teams which would lead to better soccer in the state. But don't try to get this through OD's head, he likes his empire just the way it is.

The competition for U12 boys next year is getting fierce. either that age group is going to be very watered down or it will produce some excellent players from all the competition. One of the strongest age groups in the state it will be interesting to watch over the next few years.
