If your kid is a mid or a forward then 8v8 all day long. Game is more wide open, players can play with more creativity due to more space. Game emphasis is or should be still on teaching as opposed to winning.

The rest of the country play 8 v 8 at U12. Why not?

The game of soccer was created to be played by adults, it only makes since 8 v 8 for children who have not hit puberty yet.
