ODP has coaches with higher level credentials than the man in charge. the man in charge is mostly concerned with his premier club. His club BTW is mostly a girls club and ODP for the most part is concentrated on the girls side. I could go on but why bother. ODP needs a director who cares about ODP boys and girls and that director should have an 'A' license so their authority and direction are clear and accepted.

Well said..which is why ODP position should not be on the Board or elected..it should be an appointed position that the BOD recruits and nominates and the membership approves at the AGM. If it's appointed, the position can have qualification standard..look at other states, they all have A or B license, and in general no conflict of interest (well maybe they teach camps or are affiliated with a college) by being with a specific member club.

here are Desantis's credentials:
Carla DeSantis is in her first season as volunteer assistant coach with the URI women's soccer staff. "It is wonderful to be able to add someone as experienced as Carla," head coach Zac Shaw said. "She has been great to work with and is a great person and a great coach." She comes to Kingston after spending nine seasons as head women's soccer coach at UMass-Dartmouth. Prior to her time with the Corsairs women's soccer program, DeSantis coached at the United States Coast Guard Academy for four years. A native of Sudbury, Mass., DeSantis graduated from the University of Massachusetts, where she earned All-Region, All New England and NCAA Division I All-American honors as a goalkeeper in soccer. A two-sport student-athlete, she also threw the javelin for the track & field team, earning All-East honors and being named the Two-Sport Female Athlete of the Year at UMass for the 1988-89 season. Her teams at UMass twice advanced to the Final Four, hosting the NCAA Division I Finals in 1987 and losing in the championship game to North Carolina. DeSantis began her coaching career at Lincoln-Sudbury H.S. and was in the United States national team pool, playing on the U.S. "B" team during the 1991 World Cup. After serving as an assistant coach at George Washington, she began the women's soccer program at Tulane and served as head coach of the Green Wave from 1995-98. After earning her master's degree at Middle Tennessee State, DeSantis also served as an assistant coach at Minnesota State-Mankato before joining the staff at Coast Guard. DeSantis holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license and a premier diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

As for her experiences and teaching, it is not something you want to emulate needless to say. Her new gig with ri odp and at region 1 will do more harms than help youth soccer. We in Mass would likes to extend our sympathy and wish you the best.

You guys ever consider that no one else wanted the position and this Carla is the only one willing to take it on? My understanding of current ODP issues is that the main problems lie with the fact that very few coaches are willing to give their time to ODP. I think you're assuming that there was a line of people asking for this position. There wasn't.
Classic. Criticize those who get involved but wouldn't lift a finger to help out themselves.

They should have table it. Trust me there are few younger people who cares about youth soccer that wanted in but maybe thru attrition. Call it what you like but until nature take it's course youth will continues to be in the dark ages.
