    New Club

Not sure my daughter is going to stay with her current club next year she will be playing u-14 next year , what are some of the best clubs/coaches to help her advance her skills not just about winning and losing.

I've heard Blackwatch, Explosion, and Lusitania were the best then I've heard they were not..looking for input

    Hi,

Here is my advice. You should contact the coach(s) and set up a meeting or tryout to play for the rest of this year or for guidance next year. You will get a sense of the program and more importantly your daughter will. That is the most objective way to do things rather than listening to people with other motives saying "this club is good....or that club stinks etc."

GOOD advice. There is also location to consider. Find out how often the team practices, travels, where they play in the winter, if it fits in to your family schedule, other sports etc..NEVER go by what other people say (least of all here).

Find their schedules this spring and go to a game. If your looking for the one or two best teams watch their u13 regional club games this year. If your daughter is not clearly better than what they have at her position they won't take her so really it's best to go to as many of the tryouts as possible. some parents think a bit better and a bit faster should be good enough but often it is not. What you see and how the coach sees it are different.

so if my daughter is better and faster, what is she possibly lacking?

this thread is quickly going down the same blind alley as many others. If your daugher is that fast and that good, she'd already be starting for a premier club. If you are looking for development opportunites, Bayside and Bruno have plenty of parents that came off of other clubs that can steer you in the right direction.

Example # 1 of a post meant to "get you". Ignore it. It is not about your daughter being better or faster than a team she is looking to join. Soccer is a TEAM sport. It is about your daughter finding a team where she fits in well with the coaches and kids.

this whole thread is a big fishhook. If you've been playing club, then you've played the other clubs and should know who is who.

Here are your options if you are going the RI Route:

                    1. Bayside FC Bolts
                    2. Blackwatch
                    3. Lusitana
                    4. Rams
                    5. Tidal Waves

You've also mentioned Explosion but I believe they don't have a U13 team. My suggestion is if you and your daughter are free this Saturday between 3pm-5pm, go to Wide World of Indoor Sports, North Smithfield and watch some games.

Here are few things you should look for:

                    1. Style of Play
                    2. Skills of the Players
                    3. Coaches
                    4. Parents Behaviors

Then contact the club and coaches and see if you can attend their training sessions.

Best of luck on you search.

Good Point, where do you live? There are also MA clubs within traveling distance that may fit the criteria you are looking for. In which case, check out some games at Forekicks Norfolk or Marlboro and look for the same things as in the quoted post. Just go to the team's website to find out where they practice outdoor to see if it works with your home location.

If your daughter was trying out for a team with a real coach he would take her and work with her if she had that but lacked field awareness. A real coach would not fear parent backlash for cutting Suzie who sucks but whose mom is popular in the Dunkin Donuts group gossip circle.

A fugazi coach would only take a kid who could help him/her win right away, these type of coaches look good in their team coach uniform but they do not have the capacity to take any kid to the next level. Going to the games you can easily tell if that team is coached by the real or the fugazi coach.

Ha Ha, Fugazi can only describe jewlery (and not the kind you want), not coaches. Any mom popular in the Dunkin Donuts group gossip circle knows that!

Consider MA. RI has the same tired teams that can't compete with teams from bigger States...

                              1. Bayside FC Bolts
                              2. Blackwatch
                              3. Lusitana

                              5. Tidal Waves

These are the best RI has to offer????
