Best Premier for U10 or U11 boys in RI?

Hi question for soccer parents - - my son plays on a u10 RI premiere team/NEP league.. not so happy with the practices...not so happy with how short Fall season was/no tournaments, etc.

What is the opinion re: best team to be on in this age group (or u11 for Fall '12).

We care more about player development than winning games and also want a team that is ok with him playing other sports (LAX in Spring for example).

Would love some opinions! THANK YOU.

So you're not happy with Bruno I guess.
So you email Blackwatch and Bayside and Lusitana and Pumas and Tidal Wave and check them out.

you care about player development but you are not happy with the number of tournaments at your current club.you also need to be specific on what part of practices you don't like..ex not technical enough, not enough ball touches, small sided games, instruction etc.it also sounds like soccer will not be your kids only sport that may have an impact on his development..I think you may need to look for a good town team...these days even at U10 players are developing quickly and missing practices will hamper their development

You don't need tournaments at U10 and U11. It's all about practice and touches on the ball. Don't worry about wins and loses. Make sure there is more practice then games.

It is all about practice at that age. As fun as it may be to play games, working hard at practice and on your own is the key to become a better player at that age. These are the years where a Talented young player learns to play with both feet and seperates himself from his peers.

Lots of touches on the ball is key, dribbling and learning new moves take on players 1V1 in practice force yourself to be a better dribbler because it is so easy to learn it at a young age that to relearn a skill at age 15.

Do not worry about goals just focus on being creative with the ball and becoming a better player with both feet.

They have excellent coaching and players, that is a very exciting age group in Rhode Island.

Here we go I knew this post was going to end in a promo for some club! The persone who started it isnt from bruno or bayside they are from the vipers and are now trying to plug thier U10 team. Are you serious vipers? Excellent coaching? Who is the coach? What has he or she done?

If your son plays for Bruno there should be no problem playing Lax. last year JT had a few u12 players on his team that played LAX in the spring and he is the DOC.

Is he going to miss practices becuase of LAX if so then he may never catch up with the other boys in his age group. 9,10,11 is the key age for soccer players . By 11 they should be very proficient at 1v1 with several moves, feel comfortable with turns, stops etc.

Some coaches do focus on different areas of developement and how they go about their practice may be slightly different but at this age group, I would hope that most Club coaches are perfecting the technical aspect of the game.

Speaking from experience with u11 to u16 I have seen players play baseball and soccer in the spring and we have always been acomodating to the parents and players but these athletes have either dropped socccer by 14 or by the time they reach high school they have taken a back seat to many of their teamates that focused only on soccer.

If you would like to focus on development I would hire a technical trainer to do some individual work with during the spring and summer if he is going to miss practices.
In Mass there are many clubs like NEFC and MPS that do individual work with girls and boys in the fall and spring. Not sure about RI
