    Commenting on an earlier point...

I believe an SRI member town team, with players from 4+ towns, playing in a premier league (MASC or MAPLE) is eligible for state cup as long as 50 pct. Or more of its roster are RI residents.

The 3-town rule only applies to SuperLiga, not state cup. If a town association puts together a team of RI kids from MORE than 3 towns, there's nothing to stop them from playing in MASC or MAPLE AND state cup.

I believe you are right, JB, but again, this is an example of how poorly worded the P&PM - 3312 is written based on SL instead of a generic policy statement - almost as if SRI can't imagine a reality in RI Youth soccer other than SL.

Amazing how many volunteer hours have been wasted between rostering, auditing, appealing, debating, etc..instead of, I don't know, actually spending time thinking about how to improve and strengthen soccer in RI..

Totally agree, COL. IMO, the number 1 priority should be finding land and creating a state facility for RI youth soccer clubs and associations.

I agree with you that it should be that way, but the rule applies to State Cup! I know of a team that tried to argue that and was told by SRI that it applied to them even though they played in MAPLE.
3-town rule does go away at U14 though.

Really? For state cup play too? What team was that?

This is true, I called SRI about it last year. I think they changed some of the wording this year so it wouldn't be so vague. "premier league" "premier club" "association". I believe the difference between a premier club and an association (town) is clearly defined now. When I heard they were changing it I got excited and thought that they finally were addressing the flaws in the rules. To my surprise though, all they did was more clearly define the flaws.
