    Boys HS Soccer Predictions

    Predictions for
    D1 division winners?
    D2 division winners?
    D3 division winners?

Who will take the whole ball of wax in each division?

Should Boys HS Soccer go to the Boys Basketball Championship format?

    Shea will take Division 1.

But what about the Division 1 alignment? Are they still going to go with the East, North and South Divisions they had last year? How can they have Hendricken, LaSalle, SK, NK, and Chariho in the same sub-division where they all had nearly a winning record, and then have Division 1-North where no-one broke .500

While it's certainly nice to have tough competition every week, it's also nice to have some patsies on your schedule so the underclassman get some playing time, or the Division 1 leading scorers can drop 4-8 goals on a team to keep up with the Division 2 or Division 3 leading scorers who have no competition.

Has there already been a re-alignment of the RI HS divisions?

I think some of the D2 teams (and even a few D3s) should move up, since half of the D1 teams are far weaker than a lot of D2 teams that "have no competition." I trust you saw few boys games last season between D2s. You shouldhave seen enough D1 action to know that in RI, division designations mean very little.

Make 3 x 15/16 team groupings..play each other once with alternating home/away on a 2 year cycle.. top 8 teams play in tournament to have a state group winner.. take group winners and runner-ups..and highest 2 other finishers on a avg pts/game basis and run a second tournament the following week to have an overall single state champ..end up 22 games possibly..not much different than now

Not too different than now..except shave a few games off regular season to add the extra 'single state' champ tournament..and eliminates the "regional" groups within a division. Would have to decide if you want to keep the current basic groupings (by size and previous performance) or some other method.. a bit crazy for someone coming from another state you can have one HS in Div 1 for boys but Div 3 for girls

            LaSalle

NOBODY will touch LaSalle this year. They will go undefeated all the way to the final. I'd put money on it!

              Didn't know you gambled Mario.

                haha

I posted that, not Mario. Mario is an idiot & has no idea how to coach. This team will win because they are GOOD. They will win no matter who coaches them because they come to him already developed!

I don't doubt that some of his players arrive at La Salle prepared to play at a high level, but as a parent of a new freshman there, I can tell you that there are two freshman and one transfer student that arrived as quality additions to this year's group of players and may make the varsity team (they may not start, but they will provide a solid core in future years). If this year is typical of other years, then he gets about 3 players each year that are capable. At this rate, he won't have a very deep team in a couple of years. In order to keep them at a high level, he must be doing something right to develop the junior varsity players that don't arrive ready to play at that level. What does/did the coach do to you to deserve your insult? Did your son get cut?

...and perhaps not a freudian slip...

They will go undefeated all the way to the final....where they will lose.

Shea has players who could end up in the pros. LaSalle has a more complete team.

LaSalle has Dani Apajee a Rev academy player. I am pretty sure he has a pro career in the near future. I heard he is very good.

No he is not good. He has gotten the opportunity he has had directly through his father because of his clout. And he plays on the field for LaSalle because his dad has made all kinds of promises to the LaSalle coach regarding getting the coach's son a job with the Revs. You see? One hand washes the other in these types of situations, especially in RI. Get with the program before you make a comment like that - AND watch the kid play and you'll see for yourself what his value is.

And I agree with the other poster regarding the coach at LaSalle. He gets the best talent in the state already developed and handed on a silver platter - it's tough NOT to lose - but oh wait, he's done that (lose) for the last three or four years - there's your example!

If said LaSalle coach was really a good or great coach he would have a more successful soccer camp operation. His camps have usually a handful of kids. His only camp that does well is the pre high school season one where kids get to show what they have by bypassing the coach running practices rules. So he is a decent recruiter perhaps at best and oh I forgot he has the Project Goal dude JC who gets him his best players by bypassing interscholastic league transfer rules. Just saying if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck sometimes it really is a wolf.
