Who is we? You are so concerned about alumni lists. Who cares? Your kids will never make a D1 college team. Less than 1% make it. Worry about their education and forget about everyone's alumni list. This is the problem with the game in the US. Clueless parents looking at alumni lists instead of worrying about whether their kid is getting the proper education or soccer knowledge.

I think the poster is referring to we as Bayside. Bayside is a business and what you just posted above is indeed true, however you can see from these posts that most parents DO look at the alumni lists when choosing a club. Clueless or not, they are paying the bills, it would be in Bayside's best interest to just update it. They would attract more players, create more teams, bring in more money etc....It is not about the "game", it is about the business.

I highly doubt "most" new parents to club soccer make more than a cursory glance at the alumni list when considering soccer clubs in their area. It is certainly nice to see that kids that at one point played in a given club went on to college or professional careers - but, most are focused on cost, convenience and whether or not their child or children might make it onto a given team. What you see on this forum are the small minority of folks that obsess over the choices in their area. Most have an axe to grind or are simply delusional.

Well said!! If you are happy with your club and your kids do well, it's great. Not every club is the right fit for everyone. What gets me is these posters that from RI that have kids that play for stars, NEFC or SSS and they post negative information on a clubs site they have no connection too. If you are happy why try to week it for other people.

The majority of us sane people don't have the desire or the time to put a post about another club I have no connection too and just spew hate. C'mon people, let's be civil. Sure blast NEFC, or SSS, Stars when you have a chance, but they're likely not concerned with you, and don't bother to blast BW or Bruno, because I'm not with them either. Prospective parents do want to know what's at the end of the road before they fork over a couple grand and trek around New England every weekend of the year. Let's forget about the MLS, where the average income falls in the $40-60K range, and you're lucky to have a 2-5 year career, let's look at how and where the club places you for post premier activities. What's all this development about? It is all about getting that 1% of scholarships. The players on those premier teams are those 1%. But if the best you're going to do is get into a second tier university, or lower first tier school, what's the point of the investment. Let it be known, a top 25% SAT score and top 25 class ranking gets you oodles of money at state schools. It doesn't sound like athletic scholarships are much, if anything more. Something to consider when your driving around the New England or sitting in WWIS at odd times of the day. Nothing against what Bayside has done on the field, although having the talent is often enough to provide similar results, often times without superior coaching. It does look like Bayside could do a better job of marketing their players, or perhaps using one of those training nights for SAT prep courses. Looking at the Bruno alumni list at least I see a couple IVY and higher tier schools; not sure what BlackWatch is hiding.

All this bashing of Bayside and now somehow Capital gets thrown into the mix. So let me give you all a hint of where the bashing is coming from. There's a certain premier club who would love to get some of those Capital players and that same club has a long history in bashing us Bayside at SRI. BW parent or parents go away and give us some peace.

i think your will find more of them on girls side then boys side. They may not have a clue about soccer and all they care is how many minutes their kid play and if they look good but it nice to have some eye candy in the stands!!!

Love to know who gets hit on more ..I am going to say BW has this one hands down , SC is better looking than JT or JA

I may be wrong but I spend the money because my kid has talent and has a passion for the game that is beyond just having fun at town soccer. I just want them to get better and learn the game the proper way and get good training. I am not concerned with college at this point because they are both still young. I want to put them in the right environment and whatever happens happens. You have this drawn out plan on what ivy league school they will be playing at. Too many variables to worry about. Let them have fun and when that time comes, worry about it. If you put pressure on your kid to go to a good school to play, you might as well give up now. Set reasonable expectations and maybe your kid will get there.

Storm teams are pretty good. I can't help but to stop and watch when I see them play at WWIS. Good physical soccer, always fun to watch games and the Storm teams play with alot of passion. I wish my town had soccer that good!

I don't think that was what the poster was saying, your reading comprehension needs some work. The poster was saying that if Bayside was not around to attract Storm players away from the program then Storm would retain some of those players, therefore they would be a better program. At no point did that imply that Storm was better than, or trying to be better than Bayside. Comparing a town program to a club is apples to oranges.

Their teams have a very strong parental influence and parents have a huge say in the teams. This results in the parents going around and recruiting players for bayside so they can be a more powerful voice on the team their kid is on.

Bayside skirts the rules by saying they are not recruiting players as a premier club. The powerful parents on each team actually run the team in terms of recruiting players and the minor extra tournaments they go to. They are a ruthless bunch these people, truly the Manchester United of the local scene and every bit as nasty. If your kid plays for them stop acting like you don't know any of this. Your kid is on the team they are on because your friend recruited you there and you know it. They have stolen many of our players and because it's the parents who do it SRI is rather powerless to stop them.
