Given the beautiful weather, is it considered a tryout when there are less than 15 per age group in attendance? I feel that there were 5 - 7 legitimate ODP players per age group (watched virtually all of the boys groups for 20 - 30 min each). Has premier club soccer hurt ODP's status? In the early/mid 1990's ODP was where the "premier" players played for top level training and competition. With premier clubs training almost year round and several times weekly, what is the benefit of ODP. Not sure if the numbers will significantly increase next week...I really do hope so!!
On a positive note, the 1999/2000 boys seemed to have 25 - 30 players attend.
In the future, the tryouts should be better publicized. Maybe the RI ODP group can reach out to each town's DOC to send the message to the town's competitive coaches. If each town's competitive coaches were to speak personally to his/her top 3 players and suggest they attend, and even half of those players actually attended the tryouts each age group could easily have over 30 players tryout.
SRI, et. al. does not do a good job promoting its product...just my opinion.

My kids Premier team scrimmaged the ODP team a couple of times and the ODP team wasn't very competitive. IMO if there isn't 100 kids trying out then ODP becomes just another training outlet and a place to spend your money.

We did ODP when my boys were U11's. The training wasn't bad, 2 indoor tournaments and a couple/3 outdoor scrimmages. I think it cost around $350 plus the uniform per kid.
To us it wasn't worth it.

So I take the fact that you continue to bash the RAYS in RI as a compliment. We matter, especially our team, so you are pissed. Like Red Sox fans constantly telling Yankee fans they suck. You know they don't but you say it anyway. You better hope our team never decides to go to your club, not that we ever would, because your girls will all get cut except for maybe One or Two. Now can we talk about the topic at hand, ODP instead of the team you wish your daughter was on? BTW, how many girls from your daughter's team made Region 1 team with ODP? That would be none, because the one from the Rays is the only one.
