    Now for my 2 cents....

U14 Boys - RISC has the 2nd best team in RI, IMO. Bayside is #1 - they are great and I love watching them play. saw them at the Delta Cup in August play their tournament final v. FC United and Bayside was strong.

But, first of all, RISC is playing MASC B1, in first place with a 4-0-1 record. Lusitana is in MASC B2.

Secondly, having watched that Bruno team year-round since they were U11's, their personnel is not nearly as strong today as RISC. Same goes for Rams.

I must admit that I don't know much about BW, nor SCYSA. I have a ton of respect for SCYSA's program, but....they are a town team :)

Also,...most of the key starters on the RISC U14s also start for the Lincoln Middle School team which just finished an unbeaten regular season with the funky record of 6-0-6.

Full disclosure: my 2 boys play for RISC U14's:)

U13 Girls - NE Wave is #2 behind Rays, not BW. Trust me, Wave is improved and would give Rays a good match if SRI decides to think about the kids first and allow them in state cup.

Full disclosure: my daughter plays for NE Wave :)

    Again....my 2 cents.....but, remember, I AM RI's self-appointed foremost authority on youth soccer :)

    Hey JB,
Didn’t want to offend your team just went on what I could find. I looked at that bracket again last night and Bayside as you mentioned is the best team In RI and probably a top 5 team in MA. Don’t think they have lost to a RI team yet and the goal differential was staggering Bruno 5-0 & 4-0 BWP 5-2 and 4-0 Rams 6-0 and Lusitana 8-0. BWP plays in maple 2nd and scored 2 goals on Bayside and are state cup finalist. Bruno beat the rams but lost to lusitana and BWP. Rams tied BWP lost to Bruno but are in a 3 way tie for 2nd in Maple 3. RISC which is having a great yearin MASC but has little to no history they went 1-2 at delta and lost to a town team 4-0. So I’m sure they will have a chance in the spring season to demonstrate how good they are. But for someone who doesn’t follow the team or bracket I went with the facts. I will reexamine the girl’s bracket today at some point. I can say I need to fix the U11 girls I have bayside and BWP tied they tied head to head but BWP is undefeated in maple so they should be 1 and bayside 2.

No offense taken here, dude. I enjoyed your post and the debate it evokes. It's just that I know the U14 boys teams pretty well here in RI.

Bayside is tops and they shoudl be considered as such until they lose the state cup.

Also know that RISC cut some kids who eventually ended up with Bruno, Lusitana, BW, Rams. RISC U14's has players who came from last year's Bruno, BW, Lusitana U13 teams. Plus, some of the RISC kids play for the Lincoln HS jv team which has been very successful this fall.

A little more background...in August RISC scrimmaged Explosion FC twice and split with them. Then, RISC lost a close 1-0 scrimmage to Fuller Hamlets at their field. The RISC team has improved much since then and is now leading MASC B2. A test this Sunday v. Red Devils FC of Framingham.

      Again, enjoying the debate.

        OK U13 Girls
Rays are clear cut #1 they are 2 X’s State Champions, they have been crowned champions at 4 tournaments Finalist 1 and semi finalist 1 in the last year beating BWP in the finals at FSA. They have yet to lose to BWP of NE Wave.

What makes this bracket so difficult is that all RI teams play in Maple 3rd division. now with that being said BWP is currently in first in Maple 3 and could win the division that also hold Rays, Bayside and Tidal Wave. BWP has also been crowned a tournament champion 1x and finalist 2 xs in the last year. BWP and NE wave have tied the last head to head match NE wave has yet to score on Rays and BWP has. Based on body of work I would still have to say BWP is 2nd and NE wave is 3rd Bayside is actually ranked higher then NE wave on got soccer but that’s why I used head to head and Body of work because I know Wave are ahead of bayside. Sorry JB but that’s why we have the forum so we can debate I’m glad it hasn’t gotten ugly yet as for U15 rays we will rank that in the spring. I would hate to work for the BCS cause unless teams play each other it’s almost impossible to rank teams without controversy.

Any consideration to the fact that U13 Wave only gave up 1 (late, wind-aided) goal in state cup v. Rays while BW gave up 3? :) JB

U15's are a little stronger that last year. They lost one good player who was just coming into her own but the three new players are an overall upgrade. I would think that they will do better that last year.

A heads up for you...watch out for the RISC U15 boys this spring. I'll go as far to say that they will be a finalist for the state cup, should SRI let them play. JB

JB, Rays guy here :) for the sake of full disclosure, what was the score at State Cup Finals, which was the last time we played you? Let's stick to all the facts here, not just the few facts that help you make a point. Last years results are old news, I'm sure both teams have made changes to their rosters as we have. If I had to rank RI U13 girls right now it would be:

                    1: Rays
                    2: BWP
                    3: NE Wave
                    4: Tidal Wave
                    5: Bayside
Bayside plays Tidal Wave next week, so we will see about them, but I'm not big on judging rankings based on one head to head game. i.e. Just because the US MNT ended Spain's unbeaten streak, it didn't mean that the US was ranked higher than Spain. That game was a perfect example of how any team can be beaten on any given day.

Fair enough, Rays Guy (btw, remember Ray Guy, the punter for the Oakland Raiders in the 70's? He was the best punter I ever saw.). You are correct - U12 11 v 11 state cup final last year was Rays 5 - NE Wave 0. But I still contend Wave is better than BW :)

Regardless, it will be a crying shame for SRI to not allow the NE Wave teams to compete for the USYSA's NCS state cup. Hate to tell you this, Ray's Guy, but your club's officials had A LOT to do with this rule being introduced and passing.

I'm another Ray's parent--as for the ruling that keeps NE Wave out of state cup competition, you won't likely find any Ray's parent that thinks it is the right thing to do. But also, it is certainly not something that would cause us to leave the Rays either. If we did not think the Rays were the best premier team in RI, we would leave for another team. But administratve shenanigans by owners/officials--not really our concern.

I totally get that and frankly don't blame you for feeling that way. The rule doesn't affect your team, club or daughter in anything but a positive way.

But please understand that to the rest of us - non-Rays parents - it does make your club look selfish by championing such a rule rather than fighting for another USYSA club to compete in its home state cup. Don't you want the competition?

I have the utmost respect for the Rays players and parents and applaud their success. In some cases they are my friends. I just find it hard to take that your club officers would go to such lengths to endorse a rule that so obviously puts trophies in your trophy case. I'm sure even some Rays parents understand this, right?

I am shocked that the girls U14 bracket hasn't been touched not sure how last years state cup champion is not top of the list. How did bayside get a first year team in girls u12 blue?
