Hands down, the future in the boys programs is Bayside. The U11 Boys won the U12 8v8 State Cup, the U12 Boys were uncontested and would have won the State Cup easily, and the U13 Boys have won the State Cup two years in a row...this year scoring 19 goals and conceding only two.

The real question ought to be why are there so many premier clubs in RI. A state this small should not dilute the product by having many premier clubs, but rather consolidate and have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team. This will create a feeder system for teams as players leave through attrition and ensure that all players are being developed in a consistent manner. It will also give teams from RI a better chance of competing with larger clubs in Ma., Ct., and the rest of Region 1.

Is this just a random listing of clubs? Bruno U15 and U17 just won state cup, so they should be listed first, as did the BWP U16s. Lusitana can't compete with decent town teams in the Superliga.

Who are RISC and Lusitana ?

RISC is Rhode Island Soccer Club ... they have ONE focus .. DEVELOPMENT. And they train the young athlete on proper football ... football on the ground, possession football, finesses football. Develop the player and the rest falls in place.

If a plastic trophy is your goal, go to the East Bay, play kick and run and win ... they watch your child get cut from their HS team

FALL 2010 AGES

U-11 Bayside - great program, decent brand of soccer and good coach

U-12 RISC - top notch coach and development first philosophy
U-11 Bayside - excellent coach ... top talent but a bit of kick and run style

U-13 Bayside - coach here is a gem
U-13 RISC - balanced team, experienced and dedeicated coaching pair and football played the way it is meant to be played
U-13 BWP - did they field a team this year?

U-14 RISC - new team for this club with a great coach and balanced squad.
U-14 Bayside - very good brand of football

U-15 BWP all but disbanded here
U-15 RISC --- top coach, lots of talent and a good brand of football

U-18 RISC --- excellent in all aspects

Obviously posted from a parent whose kid has never won a state cup. Don't demean the accomplishments of others, just because it's not important to you. I am sure that the kids who went to WV from RI had a great experience even if they didn't win a game.

Yes, SRI has watered down the state cup considerably with its new restrictive rules, if that's whhat you mean.

To be fair, the RISC boys U14's were a very good, very talented team compared to other RI teams in that age group. Were they state cup material - no. But they were good - Just ask any of the RI teams that played them. The coach did a terrific job of putting together a lot of the boys from the Lincoln Middle School state champs as well as some kids from Smithfield and EG. They went 5-1-1 in spring MASC, winning their division - even with an undersized U13 goalkeeper!

This fall's U14's are a new team, but appear to be pretty good for a 1st year RI team.

That all may be true, but there are much better and more competitive choices in every age group. A lot of self-serving advertising is going on from a VERY obscure club.
