The "best" players from the multiple Slammers affiliated programs (Smithtown, Sachem, Islip, etc) get together to also play for the Long Island Slammers.

Islip players carry the program. Better training at a younger age resulted Islip players carrying the 3 clubs. Smithtown has numbers thats it.

It's basically the top Smithtown team in the age group, with maybe a couple (if any) top players from Sachem or East Islip. Some of the teams are pretty decent in EDP others seem to be a work in progress.

What's good about it is the competition is better than LIJSL and the travel isn't as taxing as some of the other options. The set up and structure looks to offer more stability and guarantee that the kids will always have a team to play on, which isn't always a guarantee for one-off EDP teams in smaller clubs, especially as kids get older and develop other interests or choose to concentrate on other sports.

Not so great, the price tag. Around $3000 to sometimes play local teams that cost under $1000.
