Funny coaches listen to coaches when recruiting all the talk is about soccer IQ, tactics , field skill, foot skills but they only recruit fast athletic kids who have zero foot skills or field awareness who end up leaving for lacrosse half the time....
Slammers kick out Smithtown kids loyal to program and stick them on weak B teams.

Kids are weak because of the poor training we have been paying top dollar for.

No one in the club is saying they are getting ECNL or GA, no one. The only people saying that are anonymous people of these boards trying to steer kids away from the club. To be clear, Long Island Slammers is NOT claiming to get either league. My kids play there and no one has ever said that.

My kid went to tryout and hung with some parents. All they talked about was EDP div 1 for the top teams in each age group

Slammers charge $2100.00. Never once was ECNL dangled out in front of parents. I can see why people assume ECNL with the affiliation that the Slammers have on the West Coast. Not here not yet.

They told us 2100 a year and pay as you go for tourneys. The trainer is suppose to be a college coach whom everyone seems to know and want their kid on the team because of it. I think you are confusing this group with the Smithtown Slammers not the LI Slammers. The town teams have very sketchy training and daddy trainers running things and I would agree that that is not worth it. I think this is worth a look. I saw the kids scrimmaging at the tryouts and they looked good. Wasn't a bunch of townie school ball players. They definitely attracted some quality players to the team pool.

As a parent of a former Smithtown player I can say they DO NOT have "daddy trainers". Every team has 1 or 2 parent admins that run the logistics of the team, but every team has a licensed trainer. Some higher than others. Recent trainers have been the assistant Stony Brook University coaches, current and former ODP trainers, the head and assistant coaches from the school varsity teams. But they do vary in quality. Some do seem better than others.

I hate the fact the parent coach gets as involved as they do. Any serious team should have no parent coach

i hate that term "licensed trainer" a license is a big crock of marketing BS.

-You can have a license to practice law and still be a sucky lawyer.
-You can have a license to drive a car and still be a sucky driver (we are all reminded of this daily driving to work on the lie, nsp, ssp).
-You can have a license to be a doctor and still suck.
-you can have a license to cut hair and still suck.
-You can have a license to be an architect/engineer and still suck.

in summary, i will take someone with talent over a someone with a license that is as worthless as the paper its printed on any day of the week.

Should be closer to $1600. Teams play in EDP not ECNL.
