OK, so we have "hemorrhaging" and "exodus" and now "plethora".

You guys spend a lot of time on CNN working on how to best get the masses worked up?

Not the poster but often times all it takes is a few top players leaving and a whole team falls apart. Once families get wind so and so is leaving they start panicking and head for the exits too.

Yes, the 2006 GDA player that led all of GDA 2005 age group in goals, will most likely be a top 10 player on her PDA White team. Others that only begrudgingly stayed GDA because of NT program involvement will probably also crack the starting roster.

Not the poster but often times all it takes is a few top players leaving and a whole team falls apart. Once families get wind so and so is leaving they start panicking and head for the exits too.

Really? Why would anyone leave if someone else does? Makes no sense. You do what's best for your family, so this should have no factor. Add in, that only opens up opportunities now.

Can't be. After U13, it's 11 v 11. It's 9 v 9 for, what, two years before that, no? So, if you are looking at 3-4 players being the entire team, these would have to be in a 6 v 6 or 7 v 7 league. What's that....U10?

Or, were you referring to futsal? Four players on a futsal team would be everyone (except the goalie). Maybe that's what you mean.

are you serious? There are teams where the quality of the top 3-4 is shouldering all of the burden for the team. Basically, the team would be dead in the water without those few kids. Thats all it means.

are you serious? There are teams where the quality of the top 3-4 is shouldering all of the burden for the team. Basically, the team would be dead in the water without those few kids. Thats all it means.

"Dead in the water", how? Not enough players to field a team? Are you suggesting they are folding now because 3-4 players leave. Is 1/4 of a roster a hemorrhage, or an exodus, or a plethora?

I see your point! If just about all the GAL teams lose their top 3-4 players from their GDA showings, the level of competition will be worse across the entire conference, so it won't be mass slaughterings-they'll all be lousy.

Usually, when a team loses their top scorer, their craftiest midfielder, their fastest winger and their strongest defender-the team becomes much weaker and suffers competitively. BUT, if that's the case across the board with just about ALL the GAL teams, all of the teams will be much weaker so the decreased level of competition won't be as obvious.

That makes sense, now I see why you were so confused.

Rather, the serious player with an eye on the next level realizes that results don't matter. As much as those who are worried too much about their kid's experience concentrate on that too much, that's not the reality. Nobody, except for the FB memory that pops up for mom and dad years later, will ever care how individual games go for a 15 year old.

Besides, from what I've read about STA on this very board, doesn't seem like much of a loss and the team was already junk. So, surprised to see them (the few, the 3-4, the plethora, what have you) so easily slide right onto an ECNL roster and others pushed aside without much of a thought about them.

You’re surprised that a GDA player that is top 3-4 on their team can displace player 18-21 on an ECNL roster? Top level teams turn over 2-4 players most years —particularly up until u15 or u16.
