    Is it worth the $$$

How do the clubs charging $4000+++ convince the families of players 14-24 that it’s worth it. If all the cross country travel and fancy tournaments are supposed to “showcase” for college coaches, seriously, what good does it do your kid to do all that travel and NOT PLAY? Or maybe they a few minutes. It must be some sales pitch. I know at least 3 families that have a severe case of buyers remorse at a club that shall remain nameless. These are good players, hungry to play, but because the families don’t “recruit” (bring in more families and their checkbooks) for the club, the girls sit and are miserable. Yeah the training is ok, but these kids went to play. In games. It’s a shame to watch.

spot on It is usually too late that the parents and kid realize what a mistake they made. Enjoy the sport and play where you can, no need to travel and waste money on flights, hotels, overnights in 4 different states in one season. Get a life families. It is too short with your high school kids,....have family life.

I've spoken to over fifty girls who were my daughter's friends who all played competitive travel soccer. I asked them about their original teams. Virtually every girl who switched teams and clubs for what their parent's perceived as greener pastures, resented their moves and missed playing with their former teams. Burn out rate was pretty high!

While some clubs have more politics than others, it's also possible those players simply shouldn't be on those teams. You want your player to learn and be challenged, but as you said they also need to be playing. It's isn't just about getting a roster but finding the right fit. If you're not sure your player will start or be first off the bench then moving down a notch might be the right call. CLubs know parents often have rose colored glasses on when it comes to their kids' ability and take advantage of it. Best thing you can do for your kid is be frank with yourself about their ability and their inner drive.

simple, just appeal to parent egos. its not 14-24. the same applies to 5 on down.

As soon as the FOMO parents wake up and stop feeding these clubs, soccer will get it's identity back.

The crazies run the roost at most clubs now. they stick together and join and leave clubs en masse. Acting like idiots and thinking their s*it doesn't stink.
