Who said you can just walk on? If the issue is the player can't make one of the existing teams, then why even play in that league? What would be the point?

And that is not just to say it is a talent issue. There are lots of reasons to not play in ecnl or gda. Too much money, too much travel, too much time. If there is not a sizable budget for all of those things, those type of leagues are very burdensome and make no sense.

You are dreaming. Conveniently you want to include your Cosmos in with the ECNL teams. The only two teams who belong in the conversation with the two ECNl teams are the two 04 GDA teams. The kick and run soccer of the Cosmos or LGN will only help in keeping the games close bc the ball would be in the air so much.

I agree with what your saying but at a time and place situations change. I don't think saying opted out of a league is correct. There was only 1 ECNL team on LI and now we have Susa so there wasn't much choice in the matter. If you are looking for exposure ECNL is the way to go. Adding more ECNL teams on LI is the way to go.

What most of the delusional parents fail to realize, is that when you have a gda or ecnl team in one of these mixed tournaments that mean nothing to them, you're not playing the game or team you would play in league play. Lots more PT for reserve players, starters not starting etc., which is the way it should be, but don't fool yourself into thinking your kids team is on the same level as the LI gda or ecnl teams, especially not in the age group you mentioned. Your teams collect the players that couldn't make those teams or those who never saw the field. Stay in your lane, you'll be top dog in EDP...greyhounds racing against Chihuahuas! It'll be great!

Youth soccer games matter to the players coach and families and no one else. That is how it should be and is. As far as league, if the league is important to a player, they pursue joining a club in that a league. If not, they dont.

If and when my kid's ECNL team ever loses a game to a lower level team of the likes of Smithtown or LGN, I'll let you know how bothersome it is. It hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will. But I really can't imagine it would bother me or my kid that much, the only thing I care about with these types of tournaments are what coaches showed up and if they reach out to her club coach Monday morning.
