    Multi Sport teams

Our girls team plays LIJ and over half the kids play Lax in Spring and they miss lots of games and practices. Our team might break up if problem doesn't;t get solved. what is best way to attack this?

Find a different team if you don’t like it. Can’t force a kid to choose sports. You can call local clubs to see if they have players that need a team to fill the gap

Find and attend other tryouts as a backup plan.

Encourage them to play multiple sports. Find a team where you are learning correctly and they can accommodate the other sports. NYCSL allows for more flexible scheduling. If the teams asks you to pick one sport or another find a better team. Good coaches and good trainers encourage other sports as the fundamentals they learn in Lax BBall and other sports compliment soccer.

Every minute spent on another sport is a minute lost.

I suggest cats trained as ninja's. No one would expect that.

If the team wants to stay together I think this is best option and kids should never be forced to quit one sport for another. My son’s HS coach has told them if he finds out they are doing club soccer during Lax season they sit on the bench 😡

If your player wants a team that is more committed then she may have to move. It tends to be driven by level - the higher up the ladder you go the more committed players are to soccer and don't play other sports. How the club and coach handles missed practices or games matters too. Some talk a hard line but don't follow through with it, especially for the studs. Not sure what age your player is but it's very common for kids to drop one sport for another up through early high school years as they figure out what they're best at and enjoy most.
