Why is it that the best BARCA 06 team didn't get out of their bracket in Spain at the MIC this year, but another DA team from NY won their bracket and advanced to the quarterfinals there?
Listen, there will always be DA teams that are stronger, weaker, and in between. The DA plays against other DA... not because they don't want to play stronger teams (whoever they might be or where they are located) but because the process of developing players takes time, and it means playing a certain way now so that they can master those skills for the older ages.
All these ALLEGED other teams outside of the DA that are strong, they aren't a team when they are 17, and when they are, they'd get bitch slapped back to bangkok by any DA team that has been training and playing a certain way for years. THAT is the mission of the DA.
Christian Pulisic - a DA player from PA Classics - now players for Chelsea
James Sand - a DA player from NYSC and NYCFC - now plays for NYCFC 1st team
Gio Reyna - a DA player from NYSC and NYCFC - just signed with Borussia Dortmund
These are all players on the East Coast, all players who learned to play the right way in the DA, all killing it now.
BARCA in Arizona plays in the DA, they play there because they EARNED it. Barca in NY plays in the NPL, its a starting point. But Barca in NY will never arrive at their destination because they can't/won't see the forest through the trees. And a big part of that 'problem' perceived or real, are parents and culture at BARCA which is holding the club back.
Whether its the 2006 daddy who is a jack*****, or anyone else there, the reputation of the club is that its a bunch of long island arrogant u-little daddy asses and a bunch of bravado that quite frankly, none of us in the legitimate soccer world wants to play, talk to, or root for.
... pardon me..... but drop the mic.
I will tackle an easy one. Your rant seems to imply that the DA system depends on continuity and training over a long period, which in the end produces superior results:
"the process of developing players takes time, and it means playing a certain way now so that they can master those skills for the older ages" [or]
"All these ALLEGED other teams outside of the DA that are strong, they aren't a team when they are 17, and when they are, . . ."
That does not ring all that true and is, at least to me, the weakness in your overall rant. In this area, a DA team at U13 looks a lot different than the same club's team at U17; granted, there are a few that make it all the way through, but certainly not the majority; skill, injuries, interest, all intervene to cause the complete rebuild of those teams over time. It is more likely to me, that a good club team will retain a larger percentage of players, and if coached properly, actually be a "team" at 17, that looks more like the U13 team.
Laying mic respectfully on the floor.

A classic; thank you.
Sometimes i forget how insane DA parents are, but little glimpses like that into your perception of reality sets me right again, and allows me to remember why literally noone else in the world wants to play, talk to, or root for parents like you.

I like the Rush Hour 2 quote as well... .well timed!
US Soccer is doing very well, even if the USMNT is still terrible. The FUTURE, which has been produced by the DA, is very bright indeed. Those three players, plus many more, all products of the DA, will soon be taking their Olympic spots (under 24) ... and the future of the USA product will be on stage.
We're not going to arrive on the big stage all of a sudden. First its at the U-17 World Cup, then at the Olympics, then on the National Stage MNT. This is a 5-6 years away from being real. And when it DOES become real, and it will, it won't be NPL players or ECNL players that make it real. It will be the DA players.
And to the point about DA parents being crazy.... well I can tell you my daughter is on a cheer squad, and those meets and events, tournaments if you will, dwarf craziness beyond my ability to articulate. Soccer craziness is rather tame actually.

Agree
Totally agree with you sir. Your explanation of the future of US soccer is spot on.
BUT.... the DA, which was at the top of the pyramid just a few years ago, is now the AAA for youth soccer. The MLS Academy teams will be the benchmark for where these elite players come from. And yes they will be in the DA, and play against the other DA teams, but the best of the best will be identified and taken away to the MLS Academies FROM the DA, and others.
In fact, I believe the 2006 BARCA team just lost their starting center striker to a MLS team this summer. So the MLS teams will TAKE from DA, and non DA alike. And the best of our FUTURE will come from the MLS teams.
I do agree that the top of the pyramid league plays those MLS teams ... so your point is still valid overall, just missing that one piece or fact.
