being a part of barca for 2 years now...i will say this. they do not develop a players skills.
They develop tactical decision making and playing with their system....

Lots of fake trainers out there pretending they know the Barca way and their teams just play kick and run.

Every program and trainer i have ever been to talk about skills, forming them, tatics... then comes tryouts for their program and all they do is pick the fastest kids because when you watch them all they do is kick and run.....

i watched a couple of Barca games and no punting... they play out of the back, switch the field constantly...

it's true they do. however, i agree with the above poster, they do not develop technical skills. That is up to the kids individually.

Interesting, and wonder why you say that? When we play them every kid looks comfortable on the ball and pass well. Isn’t that technical skills? What do you mean it’s up to each individual kid?

the club does not mandate how a kid develops. what i meant is that if your kid wants to get better (or you want him to) on the ball, it most likely needs to happen outside of the club (extra training, on their own, etc.).

All the DA kids that can't keep up? You are spot on. Barca Pro teams are obviously superior to all the DA teams in the area. MLS or not. Kids who cannot compete at Barca go to DA programs where the competition is weaker and technical skills are lacking.

His son is one of the top players on the team. Get a clue.

ok. you are trying to start trouble. that is nonsense. why the sarcasm? nobody ever said that DA is weak or the kids lack talent.

When you factor your uniforms fees the price for your town team isn't much less than Barca. The difference is we have a UEFA licensed Coach and the training and development is second to none. Unlike other clubs Barca is not charging outrages prices as you may have thought.
Bingo. Does town coach train or do you have an outside certified trainer that also attends all the games? If your team is of college age, do you provide all the resources to get the kids into playing if they choose? Lots of other things into Barca prices. Town clubs also fundraise to offset costs amongst many of their teams. If you add that all in, imo I would rather pay one price and not get hit with surprises later in the season.

We have a full time trainer. he has been with us since u9. He has never missed a game or practice. We have a budget which is given at start of year. It has never changed during the year. Everything is factored into the budget. Tournaments, Trainer fees, Turf time, Warm up gear, Etc. There are no surprises during the year. every year we adjust budget as needed. If you are happy at Barca, great. I enjoy the town team. Practice is always at same place. No traveling for that. My son plays with all kids that he will play with in high school. As long as he is happy, I am happy.
What does Barca provide to get your child into college?

You hit the nail on the head- if your kid is happy so be it, mine is as well. The post was about comparing prices and Barca is not any more than a town club when you factor all that you get in. Town clubs from my experience usually do not have certified trainers that travel with their team exclusively because of the fact they train many town teams. Their "trainer" is usually a dad. I guess your town is the exception. As far as college, they seem to have their act together as I have seen emails/photos from workshops with college coaches for the teams of that age and they are the same coaches that go to the showcases and have limited time to see kids exclusively. Having these coaches come to a forum exclusively for Barca kids seems pretty helpful to me.
