I’m sure there are plenty of Suffolk families that have been waiting patiently for Kings Park to become a reality. How long should they hold their breath?

How about the Nassau family that is intrigued by the program. KP May be too far but do they take a chance and hope the facility doesn’t get built for several years.

Real issues. Real Issues that Barca is not commenting on. Where’s their official statement? Why aren’t any of their social media minions posting links to articles about the project?

What, paying customers don’t deserve to know? Oh, I’m sorry I forgot, it’s a privilege for you to take my money. I’ll just go keep my mouth shut.

Exactly. Best training around and you are here talking nonsense. You are either in or out. #ForcaBarca

There is no official announcement because there is nothing to announce. They hope that the fields get done sooner than later, but it is completely out of their control so they are concentrating on the soccer.

And you keep not taking this advice to heart. If you can't deal with not knowing the specific date the fields will go active, GO TO ANOTHER CLUB! From our conversations here I guarantee that you will not be missed.

not looking to argue, i commented earlier today. but towns and codes actually scrutinize businesses (AKA public places) more than homes. logical right? lawsuits, etc.

homes and businesses have a completely different set of requirements. homes (most) do not fall into the same safety regulations that businesses do (fire protection, etc). that being said, the fields and the amount of vehicles, and drainage will be the issue (flooding / property damage, etc.). the town cannot allow them to operate without basic infrastructure installed. once the fields (once installed) and property can drain, we will be allowed to train and play there. bring in the porta potties.

being on this site really makes me feel less intelligent. all comments have to end with an insult. you don't have any plans for anything in smithtown or anywhere else for that matter. the fire marshal is who ultimately inspects...oh boy.

i have been trolled. take care guys, i need a break from this thread.

I find it interesting in a comical sort of way that two for profit organizations with grandiose plans to take over the LI soccer landscape cannot even get turf fields built in less than three years and inept town governments and school districts routinely get it done in less than 9 months.....#JustSayin #DoNotShootTheMessenger and I know #SUSA4Life #ForcaBarca

New here, why doesnt Barca build their own facility? Why do they need to rent from someone? Just curious!

Your not allowed to ask that question. It’s non of your concern, if you don’t like it go train somewhere else - I think that’s the generic response coming.

I'm jumping in on this conversation. I say "out" for many reasons.

Not looking to flame the club, but they do not have a sustainable business model. Plus there are a lot of issues here and our children's futures are at risk. Having more than one child with the club, we've decided to go back to our former club after two years despite the player discounts we graciously receive. (One gets what one pays for we believe.)

First, unless you see your children playing for Barca for the rest of their careers, the playing style does not mate well against other playing styles here in the US. One can be the best possession player, but if your kid moves on to middle-school ball, high school ball or college ball - chances are he or she will be playing a different style and said skills are not going to mend well when no one else is playing like your child. The local and more prevalent playing styles resemble counter-attacking or long passing, so these barca skills are going to be less valuable as no one else will be on the same frequency.

Second, the barca trainers come from Spain and they all seem to hold high levels of certification which is a good thing. Most have language barrier issues and unless your player speaks spanish - your player is at a disadvantage, so that's a bad thing. We often witness coaches speaking in Spanish to players and its those players that seem to be favored - the laws of attraction...

What Barca's strong social marketing apparatus does not reveal is that while the trainers experience and education is impressive, the trainers ability to execute is marginalized when they forced to exercise through the unsophisticated and repetitive Barca curriculum that we're seeing (is there actually a barca curriculum?). When it is done through the confines of a fraction of a playing field such is uneventful and boring. Our children mainly chase balls through rondo's, rondo's, and more rondo's.

Small sided scrimmages against themselves are limited to 6v6 through 8v8 given due to space issues and such does not imitate the conditions during weekend gameplay. Essentially, the midfield is compressed to a swarm so players in possession typically pass over or around and never really learn how to transition the ball and leverage the middle in order to make well articulated attacking scenarios. As a by-product of this, the children are challenged to learn how to use space and time to their advantage because there's never any of those situations on the practice field. When competing on the big field players can be lost as the environment is so much different and they typically force the ball or play faster than they should and get jammed up without passing options.

The teams seem to lack the sixth sense of knowing where and when their teammates will be when they don't exercise attacking and defending scenarios with a full side team on a full side field equivalent. (Teams practice mainly on a 1/4 a field, think basketball court. I've seen local town teams with so much more chemistry!

Rondos for 30-45 minutes 3 or 4x a week = boring and should not be the cornerstone to development. Rondo's used as a warm-up = yes. Any program limited solely to this pass and pivot possession game and you'll see that the players are not taught beyond it and it'll catch up to them as they age and other teams become more physical and intelligent. We can say whatever we want about Barca pro team, but it wouldn't be as successful without the foreign players they have.

If one were to google AJAX academy videos on google, you'd see a plethora of training curriculum, both offensive and defensive, both strategic and tactical. RDS through Redbulls and PDP (while only once a week) offer a richer small-side environment than Barca does. AJAX makes their money selling players and every top club in every top league has a few AJAX players, this cannot be said for Barca academy players.

Players are mainly being trained to play one-touch, two-touch soccer with a diamond in the middle and are offered very little else. ANY trainer can do this, any parent can do this. We don't need UEFA and FIFA "A" level trainers if they are not leveraging what they've spent a decade learning to train.

Being a Barca parent, I see through the branding and fancy uniforms that we finally received this year. Barca Academy "Pro" NY (is a tragic branding disaster in itself, this was done as a means to provide some funding to the failing business here in NY. Selling the "BARCA ACADEMY" brand to a third party licensee, formerly known as "Barca Escola" only served to help keep the lights on for the NY chapter who has been falling short on the promises it has made to the teams and trainers alike. Several tournaments across various ages and teams were not played despite being listed on the player contract. Approximately 20 trainers live in two houses I hear, practically on top of each other - college dorms offer more space. The trainers were promised much more than what they've been given, often six trainers share one vehicle and rely on parents to give rides to and from games. Fields are all over the place and some sessions start either too early for working parents to get their kids there or very late at night, kids getting home at 10-11:30 pm (if not later for those who travel).

Pro which is supposed to signify the top teams, is a mixed bag of player talent. It's clear that some players come from good strong local backgrounds where others come from other clubs' second and third teams. Barca keeps some better players on their "RED" or second teams as in an attempt to keep competitive in each of the league divisions it competes in.

                                "we are out"
