It's very simple, they like playing HS and have no interest in the ECNL options.

I think in this case it's being brought up because Smithtown is already currently playing in NE NPL (under the EMSC banner), so they could maybe keep the teams in the same league using the Slammers banner if they like their experience with NE NPL. They are competitive across many of the age groups, and the access to some of the showcases like PDA is attractive.

You can still go to PDA showcase without ECNL or ECRL.

Probably similar to all the other dozens of rumors over the years that this club or that was getting this league or that. Always ends in a lot of nothing.

It would make no sense geographically that there would be a 3rd ECNL club on Long Island and yet another club in the NE division. SUSA is practically next door.

So why don't the kids that need or want exposure go play on the gda and ecnl teams and the rest can just stop all the silliness of these high travel leagues and focus on enjoying learning and playing soccer. There are an abundance of gda and ecnl spots around for players interested.

Here's an idea, stop focusing on rumors and speculation, it's a waste of time. If they make an announcement, then you can discuss. Given the fact that you can literally post whatever you want on these sites, this whole Rumor could be entirely made up by someone with an agenda.

The difference is, Alby was a founding member and after of few years of EM winning a bunch of regional and national titles, they realized EM was a good fit. They had successful teams, a deep player pool, home fields and a great record of college committments and YNT call ups.

EM only got ECNL because of Jeff Gross's relationship and when they made him DoC he delivered it. Like many things in US Soccer, it's who you know at the right time.

People have to remember, college coaches are never around. Just ask Surf folk how many sessions they were stuck with a different coach than the one they were promised.
