Does anyone understand how the lists are compiled in NYC and NYS? Is it strictly based on coaches recommendations? Do the coaches submit nominations for each position? Are sports writers involved? Are coaches only expected to select their players? Or are they asked to vote on the best players at each position in their conference? Are the coaches involved in the final stages of the lists or are the governing bodies? Just trying to understand how these lists are compiled with such a large population of public, private, and Catholic school players to pull from in the NYC/LI/Westchester/upstate areas. You always hear about who was deserving but didn't make the list.

Oh middle school dad you have much to learn. #1 is your kid isn't as good as you think. If she is good, she'll earn her own accolades in due time. Just enjoy the HS ride.
