They came of age when there weren't al these absurd leagues and too many clubs trying to make a nickel off naive parents.

well albertson is charging about $4000 for tuition (if thats not absurd I don't know what is).
with that being said no one can deny the talent that came from that club...especially for girls.

so here is one club for you, relatively close with proven development and a proven pathway to perhaps wnt if you are good enough!!!!!! so instead of complaining about this and that....make something happen.

So many clubs ans leagues try to use that marketing strategy. Ecnl used to do it, now gda does it. And every club that has ever had even a remote relationship with any first team player will lay claim to developing that player. That is a con game.

But go ahead and fork over your money time and energy to these clubs. I am sure your player is headed for the national team sucker.

Clint Dempsey on the USMNT used to commute 4 hrs each way for training....His parents sacrificed everything for him....if you don't have the balls to do the same...stfu and stop hating other people and/or other organizations or anyone else for your own shortcomings.

CD was a top US player and he lived in a small town in TX ..... His need for better play coupled with the fact that he lived in the middle of nowhere in a huge state forced this. The better question that you should have asked is how could a little kid from a small town in the middle of nowhere get so good? How many more of him are there out there? What are we doing to find and facilitate their development? Ask US Soccer ..... It ain't happening. CDs parents were nuts but we were lucky they were. Apparently there are not that many CDs around large urban areas and we don't give a sh|t about the other 98% of America.

^ good post. Since US Soccer is not completely reliant on DA for NT selections, kids like CD may never be discovered. A few MLS clubs are starting residency programs but it's very limited in number and not many parents want to ship their kids away. There's nothing like that for girls. Even then the kids still have to start locally, work hard, find good competition to play to improve and then somehow be seen. ODP used to be a flawed but useful way for that to happen. Now it's all done through pricey club soccer.
