Surf has the bullseye on their backs thanks to Larry.

Maybe the club, not the kids. Players should be left alone. This over-emphasis on wins and losses is destructive in youth sports.

So true. You really do hope they get obliterated. Tough to wish them success because of BotN. Do feel for the kids though. They are caught in the middle of this mess.

Shouldn't be about the kids. Unless they are old enough to know better. Like being a dirty team. Glad to see Cherry Hill Destroyers at the bottom of their bracket. You can make the (un)spoken connection.

How bad you ask? Over the years ....

              -take downs from behind
-cleats up aiming anywhere from ankles to thighs
              -intentionally tripping
              -intentionally stepping on feet
-entangling arms and physically holding players back with hands on shoulders or shoulder jersey grabs
              -pinching under arms on sides
              -dangerous slide tackles
-intentionally stomping on down players after a play - feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, arms

And I'm fearing this wrap your leg around the opposing players leg/knee to stifle movement. That's an ACL tear waiting to happen.

Sorry. Just thinking of them pisses me off.

Gotta place a little bit of blame on the parents not doing their due diligence and thinking it through. Despite Surf's national reputation, the warning signals were readily apparent on this new venture despite LM's protestations to the contrary. Long term I think Surf will make it happen but their launch plan was not well thought through

Anyway, it's absurd to use one game as indication of failure. They've probably hardly practiced and may have had players missing for summer vacation. An assessment in November and late April is more appropriate

Surf now needs to establish a successful record at tournaments (aka wins) and championships (aka NPL Nationals) to get a GDA, into the ECNL, etc. Also need to start churning out players at ODP, NTCs, id camps, the NT teams, blah blah blah.

Otherwise they will become just another soccer club.

Kids win and and lose games all the time so they should get used to it and no reason to feel more sorry for a surf kid then a kid from any other team that loses.

Absolutely ok to get a chuckle out of a surf team losing as it probably causes some consternation for LM, and the surf admins who've been promising dreamlike advertising.

Yes some of these posts are just like BOTN and uncalled for. Who really cares and makes you wonder why they do - go out and enjoy summer ;-)

We heard about how NY Surf went go the San Diego Surf tournament over the summer, how great it was for the kids, how it was a prestigious tournament that only they were attending, etc.

Can't have it both ways. Double standard.

Having said that its about Surf in general. No players are being called out. It takes 11 to lose a game, not 1. The LM and the NY Surf admins splashy buildup of NY Surf over the past few months made NY Surf out to be a twin of San Diego Surf. It's the Surf "success" we're watching and chuckling at.

Frankly if NY Surf wants to be with the top national teams you're going to have to develop a much thicker skin and let things slide. Any successful club is the target of criticism. Get used to it.

Please cite where they stated any of that - only ones from NYE attending? Stop spewing the lies - you have zero credibility and are sad & bitter...we will wait for the the link to your citation...

Nah it won't be coming...clearly an anti-surf troll who wasn't invited to join...

NY Surf posted this on BOTN on April 22:

"We are also are excited about the upcoming 2016 Surf Cup on July 30th - August 1st in San Diego, as well as the Manchester City FC Americas Cup, where we are planning to send several NY Surf players to play with the Surf Select team, comprised of the TOP players in the country."

It wasn't Larry or an anonymous poster. It was your club.
