KK to be the official feeder program for Surf FC Long Island, or at least Suffolk

That's a really smart move by Kurt. KK essentially has only four coaches which gives them low overhead. They can weather financial downturns very well in their current setup. If they had tried fielding teams all the way through U18 they would have had to double their staff, perhaps see a dip in quality on the training, and have to worry about hiring/firing trainers based on the whims of the marketplace.

Their main problem of not owning or controlling their own outdoor fields remains though. It will be interesting to see what Surf FC can get their hands on. There is only so much field time for them to rent from St Joseph's college and the Portuguese Center field is awful.

Definitely a good move but you have to be realistic that this endeavor will take years to come to fruition. Just because they come in with a name does not mean it's going to be great and will get both DAs. I do believe the name gives them a certain status and entrigue. This could all be obsolete in two years. They really need great trainers. Who are these outsiders they are bringing to LI or will they just rehash local trainers? A lot of questions and uncertainties. I am hesitant at this point. Want to see what it looks like next year and the year after.

Surf said they were going to bring in coaches, and not recycle/reuse old ones from the area. Lipstick on a new pig is still lipstick.

I can't believe people are willing to pay money to join a club that has not announced a girls DOC, coaches and trainers, or what league will be joined. I bet the NY Surf powers-that-be are banking on the sheep jumping on the bandwagon blindly and that's why the affiliate was setup - easy $ from dumb, rich parents who think their Mia is the next Mia. The fact that NY Surf was NOT going to venture in LI but then decided at the last minute to do so without having everything set up ahead of time and in place to me just says they are just following the $$ trail. Who builds a new club without fields?

I hope I am wrong but getting folks to enter a yet-to-be built house and no visible blueprints to show the folks is sketchy. Larry may think the Surf words = substance but all I see is blah blah blah and no significant rhetorical meat to substantiate the promissory words.

Couldn't agree more. They are getting kids trying out that are outcasts or borderline kids on other teams. After a year of no success with the same recycled coaches, what is the intrigue? Their model is not to acquire clubs, but to have feeder clubs. To what? Hype? There best opportunity for success out of Westchester, Suffolk, Nassau, Queens or Brooklyn is without a doubt Brooklyn. But fields are very hard to get there.

They stick someone here trying to leverage the Surf name and it seems they put no thought whatsoever to the project. This is outright obvious when you are going to BotN for help. Real clubs do not need LM and his biased garbage that everyone knows is garbage. The only people he is faking are the newbies to LI soccer.
