I am not some village idiot parent.... I want my kid to enjoy playing for the next few years and develop --- to thInk about 2007s worried about ecnl or gda is ridiculous and showcases the lunacy .... the name of the day for 2007s should be environment/coaching.... and both of those are way better than alby right now.....

And the portion of the team that is leaving are the 2008s that were added because they are making a "b" team- not any of the players from albertson- just to clear up those facts!

everyone looking for the right environment for their kid... nothing wrong w that...
Didn't the '07 Albertson coach move with her team to Surf?

And with your experience she should be way ahead of the curve. As we all know by 12-13 everyone who is committed catches up to the ones who started training early. As you know with your soccer experience their are plenty of Town team players who can easily walk on to the so called Academy clubs by name.
Disagree. Across the nation players starting out at ECNL clubs are wickedly more advanced with technical skills than their non-ECNL club or town team counterparts, and it is rare for an entire non-ECNL team to have the same technical skills as an ECNL team. Here in our little metro area you see more parity but that is because you have millions of humans crammed in a small geographical area compared to the environs of wide-open spaces like Texas or Kansas.

At an older age a non-ECNL player may get picked up by an ECNL team but you don't see droves of non-ECNL players making ECNL clubs at the older age groups. But ECNL-started players who get cut due to size or speed will quickly get snapped up by another club really quickly.

And it is rare for a non-ECNL to go to an ECNL A team. More often than not they go to a B team.

I have to laugh at my ex-ECNL parent friends who think their new club is just as good as as the previous ECNL club and are paying ECNL prices. That new club's players never get picked for any girl's or women's national team pools or go to Top Twenty D1 women's soccer schools. But they insist their kids are on par with the ECNL counterparts they just left. By U16-U17 they should have a clue.

ECNL starts at 14. No reason to play for a so called Academy Club by name only team at 8-9 years old. Yes by 13-14 if your child has the talent they should get to an ECNL club. I agree as a team the ECNL team might be better overall , but their are plenty of players who can walk on ECNL teams. Happens all the time.

And there's plenty of ecnl players that are easily replaceable. Lots of overlap in talent between bottom ecnl vs top "other" (usually npl). Problem is lots of clubs lock in their rosters early and don't make many changes - it's easier to stick with what you know plus parents start to freak out. An outside player looking to crack a roster has to be much better than the lower half of the roster

I thought the '07 team was the team coached by the women's college soccer coach mom and she was coaching her kid. If it wasn't the '07 team, which one was it? I could have sworn they jumped from Alby to Surf.

Any word on the turnout at the Westchester Surf tryouts?

Could be make-or-break for them this year up north for the boys program...

I don't trust that organization at all because of Larry. It's a shame. They should have built slowly from the ground up with younger teams and done it the right way and then would have earned their respect. I won't send my kids to any of their camps now, let alone consider trying out for one of their teams.

I didn't go. I was told it was not a strong showing. Had a fair amount of kids, but no talent.

Larry has spent years bashing East Meadow and recently was bashing the Rough Riders but is now praising NY Surf hiring away Meghan Frey from East Meadow and the Rough Riders? lol
