The guy that runs the office is stretched. He coaches boys teams, runs the arena, processes the payments, manages teams he doesn't coach and on and on.

It is a weakness but they watch costs better which explains their stability as a business.

    I question their 4 partnerships in 2 years. That's a little erratic.

But everything keeps changing, and quickly. I've seen countless "partnerships" come and go that didn't amount to anything. But I can't blame any club for trying to keep up or even trying to guess what the next step will be. It drives us crazy as parents but I have to believe clubs would prefer some stability as well.

Honestly it's gotten to the point where talent is so splintered across clubs, leagues, etc that it works against soccer in the US.

ENPL while well meaning is just another step step in that direction. US Club doing this makes no sense to me except it's politics as the guy that owns ECNL wanted this. Essentially it's a turf war within the organization.

Also the US Youth needs to streamline its structure to be more efficient and stop having member leagues compete with state associations.

At least USY has a consolidated national championship with 3 entry point in. I thought Club would do this but the idea of a travel team beating a NPL team seems to scare them.

US Soccer basically took all the talent in metro areas in DA and left a Wild West for everyone else.

IMO soccer cannot improve in this country with this structure.

Of course it won't improve. But it's a turf war over some very profitable turf. When money is involved and there's money to be made, no one will do what's best for US Soccer or youth soccer players. They will do what is best for their organizations and clubs. Money makes the world go around...the world go around

Why is there no club trying to compete on price? Does no one want the value customer? Where is the target or the honda of youth soccer?

Do the math. A trainer gets 2-3 teams for 30-45 players and maybe nets $75-$100 per player (club takes rest).

I don't know where you live but LI and Westchester on that income won't cut it. So you want value? You will end up with a kid that was probably a college D1/2 player that has little coaching experience.

Then add leagues and referee fees which for older kids run $80-$90 per game for a teams half of the payment and tournaments that cost $800-$1300 with T&E of $500-$700 for the trainer and you will see there is no room for a value club. The kids and parents want the better training and tournaments so the clubs are giving customers what they want. They also want smaller rosters for more playing time. Big clubs that can move kids around can deliver on this.

If you mean a local Premier League and 2 local tournaments that's what the town teams do. Call around. That's your Honda as long as the team is professionally trained. If it's a daddy coach you may end up with a Yugo.

Town programs fill that niche. They can do it because they can get fields for less. For many kidd that should be sufficient. But too many think their kids are Audio or BMWs when they are just Hondas. They're willing to pay big $ for something that can never be engineered into something that cannot be.

Any chance Surf gets ECNL or NPL?

Yes - both leagues will be losing clubs and players as everything shifts up a level when GDA comes on line. There will be openings. But NPL will be an even weaker league than it is now. GDA #1, ECNL a very close #2 and NPL a distant #3.

                    - not at Surf and I think they put misplaced faith in LM, but they have done a lot of things right and certainly have West coast success

They have no shot at GDA anytime in near future. Have small shot at ECNL in Westchester. Probably less than 10%. ECNL will not want to add more teams, as the combo of the two super leagues will have already watered down the product too much. Mid anything, ECNL would want a few less teams nationally. Surf arrived in NY a couple years too late. Now will have to wait for another club to fail to get a shot. Plain and simple. They have neither the talent pool, size or dependable history to be seriously considered.

Ecnl has been adding clubs already and will need to add more as clubs are forced to chose ecnl or gda

New York Soccer Club is listed as a boy's DA. What are the chances of adding a girls side?

NYSC doesn't have full boys DAP. Only the younger age groups.

And not only that but they don't have a girls side anymore ... isn't the NYSC girls side merge with FCW?
